The university is moving over to a complete new applications process and it will be completely electronic, in shaa Allah, with application tracking, progress updates, and electronic notification of acceptance. This is expected to go live before the start of the new academic year.
The application form that is posted here is accepted by the university, and is recommended to use until the electronic application form goes live.
Here is the basic application form that I downloaded a couple of years ago (I have now unlocked the form so that you can type directly into the document):
Islamic University of Madinah Application Unlocked
PDF version for people who have trouble viewing/printing the application
The FAQ should now contain most things that you need in terms of filling out the application form. However, it is important to emphasise that you SHOULD NOT fill in your grandfather’s/father’s name if it is not on your official documents. Fill in your name exactly as it is on your official documents. I made this mistake myself, and now my residency permit has one name (matching my passport) and my university documents all contain my father’s name, which is not mentioned anywhere on my passport.
If you are interested in what you have to do once you have been accepted, take a look at: Once you have been accepted.

As Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatu.
I am a potential student from the U.S. I had applied this last year (for the 2011 2012 school year) and went to the school for an interview during Hajj, approximately a few days before going to Mina.
I got the contact information of a few students attending (US students) and had sat down and talked to them. Unfortunately, I had a rough time luggage wise on the way back and lost all of my contacts and my online application number. I recently found the contacts emails but I haven’t gotten a response (it has been about a week since I emailed out, but due to the amount of time that elapsed since I saw them, its likely things could have happened that would prevent them from getting my email).
I was wondering in you could get me in touch with an American student so that I could check up on my application status, and just for keeping contact with the school.
I also want to ask if there is any way to recover my application number. I am still actively looking for it but I was thinking (maybe wishfully) that there was a password reset or something along those lines. Get in touch with an E-Mail In Sha Allah.
Jazak Allahu Khair,
and As-Salaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu
Salamu’aleykum. I have applied in august 2010 to the university in person when i went to umrah. I had an interview and they told me i would need to wait untill the next year to get accepted. Although now the application system has been changed i am told i need to re-apply and a brother i know from the university is telling me so. which is confusing as we have difficulty understanding each other. my name is Fuaad Salad Dhuhul. my ref is:3111340. i live in the U.K. but am born in holland and have a dutch passport so i dont know whether i am a Holandese or U.K student.

Akhi I have got almost all my document ready however i have probelms on getting my health sertificate done. i went to my Gb and they dont know what it is and I explained what i need, but in order to get it done they want a letter from the univercity in which it states all the recruitments. Can you please help me akhi
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
There are some GPs who make things difficult. If you take the text from the required documents page, it is directly translated from the university’s Arabic requirements:
“A medical letter or report, indicating the health of the applicant’s body, his sight and hearing, and lack of infectious diseases. It must be issued by a reliable medical centre.” – I would add (from my own personal advice): It does not have to say anything more than the fact that the doctor has reviewed the patient’s medical history and performed a cursory examination and based on that, the student is fit to study abroad.
If they are really really fussy then you can print out the official Saudi medical request form from the Saudi embassy in London. There should be a link to it on the “Once you have been accepted page” However, they might charge you a lot of money (which is a total waste), since the form is quite detailed. If the doctor is willing to fill in the form, based on the patient’s medical history without doing any tests, that would be fine. However, don’t agree to paying for any major tests or specialist visits.
I was explaining to the deputy head of admissions the other day, that the UK is not like Saudi. In Saudi, you go to the doctor and he says to you, “Are you sick?”, followed by, “Can you see me?” then writes that he has performed a serious of detailed medical examinations, ticks all of the boxes for correct vision and hearing, signs the specialist examination part of the form, and you don’t have a problem. I was trying to tell him that in the UK, when the form says a hearing examination, they will actually give you one, instead of just shouting “can you hear me?” from across the room!
Honestly, the university does not care what the doctor writes. In fact, they probably aren’t even going to read it. Just get the doctor to sign a piece of paper that gives some kind of idea that you don’t carry a deadly disease, with your name at the top of the paper, then stamp it.
If all else fails, you can get the letter from any GP, so you might be able to find a Muslim brother who understands the situation who is willing to help you out.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalaamu Alaikum. What a beautiful website TabarakAllaah. Akhi i was wondering whether you could help me.
I am 18 years old and want to study in Madinah.I have an extremely Basic understanding of the Arabic language and therefore would need to complete some intensive course in the Arabic Language before applying for further studies at the University.
In light of this i was wondering whether you could point me in the right direction with regards to the procedure for British students wanting to study Islam at the University with little or no understanding of the Arabic language.
I also know a Teacher and a Student at the University if it would be of any help with regards to referances and/or the handing in of applications.
May Allah grant you goodness.
May Allah reward you.
May Allah bless You in your Time.
Asalaamu Alaikum.
Tariq.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Ameen. Baarak Allahu feek wa jazaaka khayran.
Arabic language isn’t a problem. The university has a two year Arabic language programme that starts from scratch, you don’t need to know anything at all. You can simply apply as normal, and if accepted, they will put you in the Arabic Language Institute for 2 years, before starting your degree. Of course, it is recommended for you to learn as much Arabic as you can, simply because it makes things easier, and is generally good for your personal development whilst in the UK, but there is no minimum amount of Arabic required.
A teacher would be a big help. A student may also be good, if he knows you very well and can write a detailed reference for you. The teacher’s reference could be very useful. If the teacher hands it in on your behalf, that would be ideal, and then I could just chase it up. If you need me to hand it in, that’s no problem, in shaa Allah.
I guess the best thing to do would be to try and go through as much of the information on this blog as possible, especially the documents required, and then just take it step by step.
At the moment, most, if not all applications will be considered for 2011, so you have a little bit of time to work with. The summer is a great time to hand in an application, same goes for when the term starts again in September.
Let me know if I can help with anything,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalaamu Alaikum brother Muhammad,
JazakhAllahu Khair for all your help and advice.
To cut a long story short, Alhamdulillah I have most of the documents required for application.
And InshAllah I will be leaving Very early August for Umrah. With the plan to have an interview within the first week of Ramadan, where InshAllah I will be accompanied by the one of the teachers at the university who is also a family friend.
So at this stage I am just in the process of obtaining my Letters of recommendation and References.InshAllah
And this is primarily the reason why I have contacted You once again.
Brother,Can You please point me in the right direction as to what would constitute an excellent reference and/or letter of recommendation from the perspective of the University.
Also I would just like to check with You, what your thoughts are on coming for an interview in the first week of Ramadan, as I have heard that this would be a not so good time to try getting office/paper work done in this region of the world.
But by the Mercy and Help of Allah , InshAllah the teacher of the other side will give the go ahead if there will be someone or not.
May Allah guide us towards and make easy for us what is good for us
May Allah Bless us in our time.
May Allah grant us success in the Dunya and the Akhira, And prevention from the fire, For us and All our family.
Assalamalaikum bro,
i am 16 years old and i have submitted my documents such as my passport copy, gcse grade certificates, passport photos, a reference from my local mosque in arabic, and the subjects i am currently studying in college, i have submitted all these documents to a man who is the friend of my father and he has taken them away a month ago saying he will pass them on to a young man who has graduated from medina. Also in the meanwhile i am filling in the application form and i am getting another reference from a man who has graduated from medina. Can you please tell me what are the chances of me getting in and what else should i send with the application form. finally i am also going umra in the summer so would that be likely to increase my chances of getting in and what type of questions would they ask.
Jazal’allah
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Ma shaa Allah, at such a young age, you have an good chance of being accepted, even if it takes more than one attempt, in shaa Allah.
Check your list of documents against the list of documents on the blog (Home Page -> Applying to Madinah -> Documents you need to apply)
Because the link between you and the person who is handing it in via multiple people it might be a little harder for you to find out what is happening. Also, it might take the brother time to get it over to the university. The fact that he took it a month ago means that he would have had to be quite quick to get it to the dept. of admissions before the unofficial closing date for applications, although it’s still possible.
Allah knows best, I get the feeling it might be for 2011, rather than 2010.
In any case, if you need any help, or anyone to hand in your application again, just let me know. Maybe you can contact the brother who was going to hand them in and find out if he has made any progress yet, then I can help you chase it up from here.
If you come for an interview at ‘Umrah it will increase your chances of being accepted (once again we’re talking about acceptance in 2011 not 2010).
In terms of questions, take a look at the page entitled “Frequently Asked Questions” in the section about coming for an interview.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Assalamalaikum the greeting of muslim to every one;

Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
That is what the site is for. Browse the pages (listed in full at the bottom of each page, under the “Pages” category, and you should find everything you need. If you have a specific question, please feel free to post a comment.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Ya akhi do you need to have the Quran memorized to be accepted ? Also where it says “University Stage : An applicant is requested to arrange the following faculties according to priority ?” what do i put? I’m confused to knowing if i’m eligable to apply to this University. Please let me know if you can when you have time. Jazak Allah Khair Akhi
Assalaamu alaykum,
You don’t need to have memorised the Qur’aan. The question is general, if you have memorised a few surahs, mention them. If you have memorised three juz, put that down. See the page “Frequently Asked Questions” for more information.
In terms of the faculty, it doesn’t matter what you put, since you will be going to the Arabic Institute, and they ask you again once you graduate from there. Leave the last three (Intermediate, Secondary, Pre-University) since they are all basically irrelevant. Order the faculties according to your preference 1-5. As I said, it really makes no difference at all.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Salaam aleykum my dear brother:)
I know I’ve been asking a lot of questions bro, but I have 2 more, and they are:
1- plz let me know how can I best impress them,so i can prepare myself?
2- when is the best time to visit them for an interview?
I wanna go this year inshallah te’alla.
Truly may Allah bless you, such amazing guy, I sincerely wish you and all of us success and mercy from Allah swt ameen.
Jazakallah khair may Allah swt always grant us health and guide us to the straight path ameen
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Subhanallah.
In terms of the best way to impress them, I think what the university is really looking for is students with a real desire to work as hard as they can, and take full advantage of the facilities, to achieve the best that they are able to achieve, and to benefit the ummah upon their graduation, as well as being people who are trustworthy and with good manners. It is really hard to tell someone how to put that across in an interview, but I do think it is important to:
(a) purify your intention and revise it, since it will make you successful in the following points
(b) show the manners of a student of knowledge, in everything from dress to speech, even when things don’t go well, or when you are forced to wait. Show good manners towards the person doing the interview, such as when they make an effort to speak English. If your papers are incomplete, be polite about it, ask them if it is possible to submit them later, explain to them that you don’t want to trouble them, but that it is an important opportunity for you. These are just a few examples, but in shaa Allah, you get the idea.
(c) show them evidence of your efforts in seeking knowledge in your own country; certificates of attendance for Islamic courses, letters from teachers, that sort of thing. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have any, but you need to let them know that you have tried to seek knowledge in your country, and you have persevered in doing so, since this will help to show them that you are likely to do the same in Madinah.
(d) try to learn some Arabic before you go. It not only shows your commitment to seeking knowledge and your ability to do so, but it is always polite and courteous to say something in the person’s own language, even if it is only a little
(e) show that you know about the Islamic university, and that you know what it entails, and that you are genuinely prepared to endure the difficulties and to work hard
(f) in all of the above, don’t be false. When people give a false impression, it shows straight away and makes them seem insincere. Just be yourself, but try to remember the above points.
(g) bring a good translator who knows what he is doing. If you choose to bring a translator, your choice of who to bring can be important. If they know the admin staff, they can help to smooth things over, and put in a good word for you at the time of your interview.
These are just a few of my ideas, Allah knows best.
As for the interview time, the university is open Sat-Wed from 7.30-Dhuhr. The admin office is open all year round, except for the last 10 days of Ramadhaan and a few days at Hajj. In general though, term time is best, if you can make it. If not, then as soon after term finishes as possible. At the moment, the term finishes around the end of June. Once you get near to Ramadhaan, things get much more difficult, but you might still be able to find someone there to interview you. Most people who are interviewed in the summer will be accepted in 2011, not 2010, since most applications for 2010 will have already been decided.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
As-Salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Akhi kareem, i hope you and all of the students of knowledge, are well in imaan and health. And that Allah(SWT) accepts your striving for Islam and Jannah. Amiin
Akhi kareem, i have 2 brothers who have memorized the Quran with tajweed and are mashaAllah in aqhalaq and behavior. Both brothers are in a city in Somalia that leaves no choice to young men accept fitnah. One is 22 and the other is 18. They are eager to continue to study Al-Islam Quran wa Sunnah and inshaAllah be a strong pillar in Islam. They currently still reside in Somalia which i believe has no saudi embassy to my knowledge as i live in the west.
My brothers have no other option accept to do hijrah for the sake of Allah(Swt), to continue their Islamic study in a place like Madinah University. I am afraid they will loose hope and join the wrong people and lose their Quran. This, in a way is a special case and it would benefit our Ummah if we can help them to apply for this University and to also refer them pointing out their conditions and situations.
Alhamdulillah my family are Ahlul Quran and i, myself alhamdulillah memorizing this beautiful speech of Allah(Swt). Please if you can help, send me an email and give me an action plan to help them. Trying is what we must do, and the rest we leave to Allah(Subhannahu wa taAala).
BarakaAllahu feek Ya Akhi kareem.
Wa alaykumu salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Subhanallah, sometimes when you hear about people’s situation, you really have to thank Allah for His blessings, and without a shadow of a doubt, the very least that we can do for the brothers is to make du’aa for them. We ask Allah to protect them from every evil and to make them firm upon His religion.
In terms of acceptance in the university, I would have to speak with some of the Somali brothers who have come from Somalia. I honestly don’t know whether the university is still accepting students from there.
I think that because the university is a government institution, there is always a concern about trouble being imported from various countries, and particularly the issue of terrorism. There have been whole years in which the official university policy is that nobody from certain countries (I know Algeria was recently on the list) could be accepted, regardless of their references or approval. I think that it was a government decision that was passed down, based on various factors.
Actually, Somalia has a history of very good students, some of which have gone on to doctorate level, but I think logistically it must be difficult for the university to arrange.
I think the best thing to do initially would be for me to speak with a couple of brothers from Somalia, to ask them what the current status is with students, and whether the university has a facility to accept students from Somalia at the moment, and what they have to do.
In shaa Allah, I will try to speak with them soon,
May Allah make it easy for them and for us,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
Bismillahi
As-Salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu ya akhi kareem.
BarakaAllahu feekum for your continuous support for the sake of Allah(Subhannahu wa taAala). We hope Allah(Subhannahu wa taAala) accepts your humble striving and increase you in khare fi dunya wal Akhira. Amiin
Ya akhi, i understand all governments must avoid helping those who wish to bring terror into the hearts of all living beings on this earth. And being strict to such elements always is good regardless if a government is Muslim or non-Muslim. We must all do what we can to prevent such actions.
Often though, it is luck of knowledge in the religion that allows young people to join forces that do not know any better and fall into fitnah. The best method in preventing such future for our brothers in such situations is to help them gain the proper knowledge that will cure their ignorance, clear their mindset and help them follow the Quran and Sunnah as the As-Salaf us-Salih did, inshaAllah.
I have grown up in the west, educated, live and making difference to help all people. And since my brothers are of good family that have been raised in Quran and Sunnah, alhamdulillah we are far away from associating or supporting those who love to hijack this beautiful way of life. My brother’s only hope and dream is to come in a peaceful place, study their diin, establish themselves and help the ummah. Wallahu Aaleemun bil mutakeen.
Anyways, i would really appreciate if you can give those brothers my email address and let them know my brothers are of good manners, good strong family of Quran and Sunnah, live in Kismanyo which is fairly peaceful city. And that i will fully be responsible as guardian.
JazakaAllahu khairun once again.
Your brother in Islam.
Wa alaykumu salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
I spoke to the university and they said that as far as they are concerned, there is no problem with applications from Somali students. They have to submit their documents as normal and they need to specify the nearest embassy which they can receive their visa from, such as Ethiopia, for example.
In terms of explaining their situation, I must admit that the university doesn’t give as much importance to the students’ personal situations as they used to. At the time of Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy on him), it was very important, but now they tend not to pay much attention. However, we can still write something, maybe someone can provide a reference which contains the information.
I have heard some rumours that they won’t be accepting any Somali students at all, no matter where they are from in the world. However, the people I spoke to didn’t know anything about it, and are accepting applications from Somali students, and it may end up being a decision made at the higher levels, perhaps even ministerial level in Riyadh.
This is what I was able to find out,
May Allah make it easy for you and them,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalamu alaikum Brother,
Am really happy with you concerning handling of issues from brothers from the part of the world may ALLAH continue to rewards you abundantly Ameen.Zakari Adamu Usman.from nigeria i was born 17 january 1988 in kassa.you told me that my aplication has been received is now awaiting approval from the screening commitee.please brother help me to trace the progress of my application as requested earlier from you.as i told i am converted muslim.wassalam .
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Baarak Allahu feek,
I can confirm that it is definitely your application which has reached them, since it matches the details, and that they are processing it over the next couple of weeks. There is really nothing else that I can do until the names come out at the end of the year (just before Ramadhaan). They don’t tell me (or anyone else) whether a person is going to be accepted or not. The decision remains within the committee, until the list of names are published.
Make lots of du’aa and be patient, in shaa Allah you will be accepted.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad

Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
May Allah make it easy for you.
As soon as you finish High School you can apply. I think the best thing that I can advise you is to read through all of the pages on the site. There is a page about the conditions for entry, a page about life at the university, and a page about the documents that you need to apply. For a list of all of the pages on the site, scroll down to the bottom of the page under the section “Pages”, or select from one of the main categories at the top of the page.
Make sure you read through the page “Frequently Asked Questions” as well.
Once you have read through the site, feel free to post a question if anything is still unclear.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
one more question..i forgot to mention i’m a girl…can girls apply?
Have a look at the “Sisters” page which explains the current situation with regard to women applying to the university and some of the other options which are available. Brother Omar has a comment at the bottom of the page with a link to a piece that he did about sisters’ opportunities in Saudi. It is also worth reading.
Asalamualaikim br, I Just wanted to find out some information, My son Is currently doing HIfz in a islamic School Called Al mizan, He has chosen to go to boarding madrasa in england as he would like to complete his hifz, what i wanted to to know is what courses are available in medina university an can he apply Straight after he finishs secondary school or do u have a secondary school facility available! jazakallah!
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
May Allah protect you and your family and give you all the ability to seek knowledge for His sake.
The university does have a High School, but they don’t normally allow people to apply from the UK, unless there are special circumstances, so he would have to finish at least GCSEs first.
In terms of the courses available, it’s probably best for you to read through the pages in the section “General Information about Madinah uni”, as well as the page “Frequently Asked Questions” and you should find all of the information that you need.
Feel free to post another comment if you have any more questions, after having read through the site,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Salaam Aleykum
Should I write the answers on the application form by hand or I can do it with microsoft word ?
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
It doesn’t matter. Most people write it by hand, since it’s a pain to write with word. The boxes keep jumping around all over the place. I’ve done it a few times with word though, and it certainly makes it easier for everyone to read.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
i want admassion in jamia islamia madeena plz help me by admassion in jamia madeena thanx for all
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
This site is designed to help you find all of the information that you need. Please read through the pages in detail, along with the comments, and if you have a specific question which hasn’t been answered, then feel free to post it here.
Please make sure to also read the page “Frequently Asked Questions” which should give you a lot of the information that you need.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Jazakullah ghairan
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Ahsan Allahu ilayk wa baaraka feek.
Theoretically, the time should have already passed. However, I know that they haven’t started looking at students from most countries yet because of the massive amount of students who are being accepted this year, so if any application submitted very quickly might have a chance of being considered.
Allah knows best,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Dear brother fie deen,

Alaikoum Salaam warahmatou’Allahu wabarakatu
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Firstly, please accept my apologies for the extremely late reply.
In shaa Allah the list of accepted students should come out just before Ramadhaan, although it has been known to come out as early as July.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

ASALAAMUALIKUM

My question is what is the high school average (ex-high80s) etc is required to enter this university. Do i need volunteering hours?
jazak
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
There is no fixed grade required. However, your grade will be compared with other potential students, so you need to get the best grade that you can. You don’t need volunteering hours, I don’t think that the university takes them into account.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Asslamu alaikum Brother
Jazkallalh for your quick response.
I would like to know that should I start applying for Madinah University now or after graduation in June 2011. I am planning to come to Saudia for umrah in July or August 2010. So can I give an interview now and then come back after an year to study?. Laion stly, is the registration open in july or august
Jazak
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Wa iyyaak.
I would advise you to apply after your graduation, since you will need to submit your grades as part of your application. If you come in July or August will you have any grades that you can submit?
The registration/interview is open, take a look at the front page for a list of dates and times; there is a post there with some information.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Assalamualikum Brother,
Thank you for you co-operation.
My qustion is that I want to apply to Madinah University, How can I apply and I already read the website about the documents required but I don’t know how to start. I am in grade-11 studing in Toronto, Canada. Inshallah I am graduating in June, 2011 So what can i do in the mean time to sucessfully enter this university right after my high school graduation. Jazakumullah Khairan
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Another brother asked a very similar question and I gave him some advice which you can read:

I think it covers everything you need,
May Allah make it easy for you,

aslamu alaaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh dear brother and sisters.i went to be a fiqh teacher one day insha’allah but in united state every thing won’t work out for me so i really went to go to muslim country and practice my deen under the best sheik or ulama.so alhamdullillah so far i change a lot of thing to be a better muslimah but i don’t think my parent would let me go if tell them that i went to seek islamic knowledge instead they went me to become doctor, nurse, enginer or something different.
so i think madinah university is only for people who have deploma and so on but am not yet gratuated student from high school.
so is there any possibilities for me that i can study in madina and go to madinah university after i gratuate.
jazakallahu kheyran
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
May Allah make it easy for you to seek knowledge for His sake.
It is important for you to explain to your parents the virtue of seeking knowledge and to try to convince them to let you go.
If you read through this site, you should find all of the information you need to apply, once you have graduated from high school.
In the mean time, you might find this advice useful for people who haven’t graduated from high school yet:

Asalamu Alaikum Wr Wbr,
Brother, May Allah reward you tremendously for all that you do for his sake.
I was wondering,
a person who is hoping to go for an interview around June 2010, is the attached form the form they would fill out and have with them for the interview time or is there a newer version?
Also, are the chances of acceptance for 2011 good if I go for an interview around June of 2010?
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
The university is moving to an electronic applications process, and they have new electronic forms which they use for people who come for an interview. However, the form which is attached is essentially the same thing, and it’s best to fill it in before you go, so that you have everything ready.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
salaam aleykum
brother my previous grades are not very good so i want to do another course that will get me better results,i want to do PC Repair and Upgrade course but online. And the tests are done online so i won’t get any grades on a paper, but if i pass i’ll get only the diploma and that’s it.I want to do it online on Penn Foster college,it’s an american college.Than i want to go with that diploma to Madinah for an interview, what do you think is this a good idea?
your brother in islam
Azir
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
It depends if the diploma is recognised and equal to a High School diploma. In general these types of courses are not recognised by the university, even if they may be recognised by the country of origin. Also bear in mind it has to be official enough that if you were accepted the Foreign Office/State Department would stamp it as an official document. Most online courses are not eligible for this. In general I wouldn’t advise it.
Allah knows best,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalamu alaikum Brother,
I am still waiting for your confirmation of my application as you promised to trace for me.Zakari Adamu Usman Dogo.Nigerian.please brother help me .i will grateful for your assistance wassalam.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Assalamu alaikum warahmayullahi wabarakatuhu,
Brother I would like to ask for Allah’s rahma to descend upon you and your family, for all your hard work.
i have tried to read the majority of posts on the site and realise how dedicated you are to helping the ummah. subhanAllah this is a very noble task.
Bissmillahirah maniraheem, My son is fourteen years old and has just completed the Quran ul Kareem Ahamdulillah. He has done Gcse Arabic and is sitting A level Arabic exams this year inshAllah. I am looking to put him forward to study 5 gcse’s of his choice which will then inshAllah make him sixteen in summer 2011.
My question: Is this the best route to ensure he has the best chance to get into M.U? Is it accurate to say I should apply for him to go to M.U by september 2010 for a 2011 start? Also living in England I know of people who generally endorse applications for M.U should I go to them as my husband knows them personally?
jazakAllah khairan in advance
umm Atfaal
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Ameen, and may Allah reward you and bless you and your family with the ability to seek the knowledge of Islam.
From what you’ve said, it sounds like an excellent idea. The Arabic language will really help, especially if he can do some basic study of the Madinah Arabic books, in order to develop his classical Arabic skills (I don’t know how much they emphasise classical Arabic at GCSE/A-level).
Ideally, if he could come for an interview, that would give him the best chance of being accepted inshaa Allah. However, whether he can come for an interview or not, I think the most important thing is for the references to be something which stands out.
One of the people involved in deciding which students to accept was telling me that they get all of the students from one country with references from the same person, with the same wording, just the name changed on the paper, and even though that doesn’t mean that they will be rejected, it really stands out if a reference contains some real information about someone, instead of just “please accept him.”
Also, make sure that they know about his memorization of the Qur’aan, by including a certificate or a reference from his Qur’aan teacher.
In terms of being accepted for 2011, any time from the late summer of 2010 onwards should be fine, inshaa Allah.
If there is anything that I can help with further, feel free to ask,
May Allah make it easy for you all,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
aaasasalamu alaikum brother,

pls i want you to send me ur new website and pls iwant u to tell how to apply into the university
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
I don’t really have a ‘new website’. Inshaa Allah, I’m going to fix this one to make the information easier to find. Also, I’m working with the university to improve their website, which is http://www.iu.edu.sa, inshaa Allah, we’re hoping to complete the first part of the project in the next few months.
As for how to apply, this site is designed to help you to apply. Please read through the pages on the right hand side at the top of the page. Inshaa Allah, you will find everything you need.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalamu Alaykum i want to know if you could get accepted after you just finished college and have no degree and also how long does the acceptance process take i heard it was about a year. i also want to know how the visa process works and do you go for a interview after you got accepted.
Sorry for giving you so many question this bis something i really need to know JazakAllah may Allah bless you for your hard work.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
No problem, ask as much as you need. Here are the answers to your questions inshaa Allah:
You only need a high school/college qualification, you don’t need a degree.
The application process can take up to a year, and sometimes longer. For most people it takes about 7 months, depending on when you apply. If you applied now, you might be able to get accepted for September 2010, but most likely you would be considered for September 2011.
Read the page “Once you have been accepted” to find out how the visa process works.
The interview, if you come for one, is before you apply not after. You have to come for Hajj or ‘Umrah, then call into the university and ask for an interview.
The interview which you receive after you have been accepted is only a formality to decide which part of the university you should study in.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad

Already replied to your first post.
Assalamu Alaikum,
May Allah reward u, please i would like to know when or how would i send my reference. Do i send it with my form or there is a space for the reference in the application form. and when is the right time for me to apply.
Jazakallah
Wa alaykumussalaam warahamtullah,
The references should be written separately, in the form of a letter addressed to the university (in Arabic):
A rough example of a translated reference might be:
***
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful,
To the Head of Admissions at the Islamic University of Madinah, or to whom it may concern,
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
So-and-So, of British Nationality, has informed me of his desire to study in the Islamic university of Madinah. I have known him for 5 years, and have always found him to be upright in practicing his religion, with correct Islamic belief, upon the methodology of the pious predecessors – may Allah have mercy on them. He has always been keen to seek Islamic knowledge. He has studied Qur’aan, Fiqh, and Arabic Language from me in the classes which the Islamic centre provides, and has excelled amongst the other students, showing exemplary manners and a strong desire to learn. He is active in calling others to Islam and in supporting his community. He is aware of the conditions and requirements of the Islamic university and has shown a strong desire to pursue his studies further in the Islamic university. I kindly ask you to support him in his noble aim and to allow him the opportunity to study in the Islamic university of Madinah, and I ask Allah to give us all success,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Someone well known to the university, or someone with a position of responsibility in the community (like an imaam, head of Islamic centre, etc.)
***
Of course, everyone will write something different as a reference. Sometimes you might get a reference from a local imaam who can write a lot about you, because he knows you very well. Sometimes you might get a reference from someone famous, like a well known scholar, and they can only write a couple of lines. I always try to advise the students to get a mix of both. Basically, just try to get whatever you can and trust in Allah.
As for the right time to apply, the university accepts applications all year round. However, they have a quota, when they fill the quota, they put the rest of the applications in the pile for the next year. I would guess that the quota has almost been filled, and that most applications will be considered now for September 2011. Allah knows best.

I sent my application in March, however since then I have become friends with a Saudi Sheikh in my city. Apparently he is known the embassy and university. If I get a reference from him, is there a way for me to send it into the university now as a 3rd reference? or is it too late because I’ve already sent the application?

Let me know where you are from and I’ll see if there is someone in your local area who might be able to help, inshaa Allah.

Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
I’m guessing that by “Kulliyatul Aadaab Al-’Arabi” that you mean Kulliyatul-lughatil-’Arabiyyah, because this is the only related faculty that we have in Madinah university.
In any case, please read through the pages on this site and inshaa Allah you will find the information that you need to apply,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Help me brother inshAllah! My grades are not good also cause I came in France 5 years ago and my French wasn’t good, but I speak better now and English is almost perfect alhamdulillah.
My nationality is Macedonian and I’m 21 years old.I think anyone who wants to achieve something good with the help of Allah one will achieve this.So this is why I strongly believe I can do it to.
How should I do this brother?
Do I have any change do you think?
Salaam Aleykum brother
Inshallah you are in the best of health and iman.
I am from France 21 years old,I’m studying atm Pc Repair(online college course).
In my past I had to move from one country to another,(Macedonia-France)so my grades are not very good because I didn’t spoke very good french.
I want to increase my knowledge in Islam inshAllah,I love it so much alhamdulillah.I want after that to give dawah to the whole world and unite our Ummah inshAllah.I want to devote my life for Allah becoming a great scholar inshallah te’alla.I am trying my best and I will do my all if I could get accepted…but I honestly don’t know if I would have any chance at all.

Do I have to put every single certificate of my grades that I got also?
Pls respond brother,Jazakallah khair so much give me some advices please inshallah.
Wassalaam wa rahmatullah
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
May Allah make your search for knowledge easy.
Sorry for taking so long to answer…I started answering your comment and then I left it and ended up forgetting…wallahul-musta’aan.
I think the first thing to mention is that grades aren’t everything when it comes to applying. They look at a number of other things as well. You don’t have to include the grades for every single subject you have ever completed, but you will need to include at least the main subjects which you have completed.
You have more chance if you come for an interview, but of course it isn’t cheap to come to Saudi Arabia. Of course, if you can come then that’s great, but if not, try to get strong references and inshaa Allah you will have a chance of being accepted.
I will upload a new copy of the application form in PDF format, so that you shouldn’t have any problems.
May Allah give you success,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Salaam brother
Oh ok I see, inshAllah brother it will be as Allah wants,I know He said “You may like something which is bad for you and you may not like something but it is the better for you”
Meaning ofcourse what we always want might not be the best for us…cause only Allah knows the future…
Please let me know when you’ll post the pdf format of the application form brother, jazakallahu khairan so much…
I have just one more question…I’ve read on bakka.net that I should get from a islamic center such as masjid from an imam a lettre…what exactly should the imam write on the letter…I don’t go there often because I live far from the mosque so the Imam is plus a new one and he doesn’t know me at all…
Jazakallahu khairan again brother
your brother in islam

*** moved from the bottom of the page ***
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
The PDF has been posted weeks ago, it’s on the application form page.
The problem with references is that they should be from someone who knows you, or at least can write as if they know you. Otherwise, you’re going to get: “please help him to apply” – really that isn’t a reference. Maybe you can go to meet the imaam and sit with him a couple of times. Maybe you can go with someone who knows you both, so that person can be like a reference for you in front of the imaam. Every situation is different.
What a reference contains is up to the person who writes it, but something about religious commitment, commitment to seeking knowledge, desire to study, good manners, etc. all of these things will really help inshaa Allah.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykmum,

This site has been set up to help people like you, please read through all of the pages and you will find all of the information which you need inshaa Allah. If you have any specific questions once you have read through the whole site in detail, then you can post a comment and I’ll do my best inshaa Allah.
One thing that I would note is to ask you to hurry your application, because the upper age limit is 25. Inshaa Allah, if you apply straight away, you should still have a chance of being accepted.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

assalamu alaikum…i am 15 yrs old and i want to apply for medina but i still didnt do my gcse and i am goin umrah in december will i still be able apply when i go there, can i tke my yr 9 or yr10 grades
jazakallahu khair
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
GCSEs are a fixed requirement for applying. You have to bear in mind that you are applying to a (quite hard) degree level course. If you tried to apply to any UK university without A-levels they wouldn’t even consider your application, let alone without GCSEs, so you can understand why Madinah require at least GCSEs for those who want to apply.
They do have a Saudi High School, where you can do Saudi GCSEs, which in an Islamic sense are much more beneficial than the UK. However, they don’t allow any western applicants to enter as a rule. It’s a decision which they make on a per country basis, but they normally only allow countries where it is rare for people to get GCSE or equivalent, not countries like the UK, where almost everyone has them.
I always remind the brothers that you can also do GCSEs in the UK via home schooling, and just attend for the exams. This is suitable for some brothers and unsuitable for others, but I always mention it because some brothers complain about the fitnah in schools in the UK.
Ma shaa Allah, you’re still young and if you plan carefully and work hard getting references and good GCSE grades, inshaa Allah, there’s no reason why you can’t get in next year or the year after and you would still be one of the youngest students and with a great opportunity ahead of you, inshaa Allah.
May Allah make your search for knowledge easy,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalaamu Aleikom warahmatullahi wabarakatu
I heard that it was very hard to get into the university.
I was wondering is there anyway that i can improve my chances of getting accepted, like extra skills or experiences ect.
And i was wondering is the university close to the Al-Masjid- Al-Nabawi
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Apologies for the late reply…
I think anything extra that you do in seeking knowledge & learning Arabic is always going to be a benefit to your application.
The university is about 10 minutes away from the masjid by car, and they have free buses which take you there from Asr until Ishaa.
Wassalaamu alaykum,

As salaamu alaikum
I was born and raised in India and at the age of 11 moved over to Canada. Born into non-practicing muslim family and it was here in Canada that I began to learn and practice Islam. However, I am 21 years old and I have yet to graduate from highschool. I have poor grades mainly due excessive absences. I actually have no interest in continuing my highschool education here because it is too much fitnah for me and I have decided to go to Islamic University of Madinah and insha-Allah hope to move to Afghanistan, my motherland, a land of innovation and shirk, to give dawah to them because the country is in dire need of true islamic knowledge. It was the life of Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhab that inspired me to go back to my motherland and give dawah there. But before I can do that, I need to give dawah to myself, I need to move from this sinful place, away from the corruption to the city of rasoolullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) to study and educate myself. Afghanistan is also in dire need for books. We have so many books translated into so many languages of the world. But the Pashto language is full of war and politic literature. What they need is books of Islam, books that are of benefit. I feel that giving them dawah and translating books to pashto is what I need to do. But as aforementioned, I have no highschool diploma or an understanding of the Arabic language. Would really appreciate some input and advice. Barakallah feek. Was salaamu alaikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakutuhu.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
I apologise for the late reply, it’s been a very busy few weeks…
May Allah make your search for knowledge easy, and keep your intention sincere.
It’s always difficult to advise brothers who sincerely want to study but haven’t done well in their education, for whatever reason. The university does take your western education into account, and they say that they have to do so, because at the end of the day, they are running a very challenging degree course and they have to base their acceptance of students on something which judges their academic ability – just like every other university.
Having said that, I don’t think that this should stop you from applying. Your intentions are ma shaa Allah excellent, and Allah helps whoever He wills. Maybe you could even look at a way to do a basic level of education from home. I don’t know about Canada, but many people from the UK don’t know that they can study for their basic secondary school grades at home, and just go to school to sit the exam. If they work hard they can even do it within one year. It’s not ideal for everyone, but you have a few years before you are too old for Madinah, and giving da’wah requires a lot of patience and long term thought, so it might be a good idea.
The only other thing that I think it’s very important to advise you is to remember that knowledge is not restricted to Madinah university, and you need to look at all of the options which are available to you. This is something that I always advise the brothers and something which I didn’t fully appreciate myself until I went there. Check out my advice on potential pitfalls for people who apply, when I mentioned about seeking knowledge in your own country as well. This will be a big help to your application as well inshaa Allah.
Other than that, just read through the site and get your documents together and I’ll do everything that I can inshaa Allah to help you to apply and inshaa Allah to get accepted.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad

Assalamualaykum,
JazakaAllah khair for your time. I just wanted to know when the university will publish the list of accepted students for this coming year, as someone told me they put the list up in the university before they send out the confirmation letters.
Wasalamualaykum
Wa alaykumussalaam,
Just search the comments…this is definitely a frequently asked question
I’m trying to post the list here as soon as it comes out. It could come out any day now but the university are waiting for Riyaadh to approve the list. Last year the approval came late July, but normally it comes in mid-late June.
Please post here if you find the list has come out, since I might miss it.

Assalamualaikum wr wb,
I just have 1 question to ask about the (sleeping)rooms at the university. Can you tell me how many brothers sleep in one room, because that is an issue with me and I also wanted to know whether you can get your own room there. I might sound spoiled but I’m not. I am used to privacy and I’d like to maintain that, even though I only want to seek knowledge for Allah. That is, Insha’Allah, my main goal there, other then seeking a wife and get a nice tan which is like impossible in Europe, ok ok I’m joking…!!
Please don’t get me wrong, I really understand that the students do not have the same comfort as they have in their own homes. But try to answer my question.
Assalamualaikum
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Baarak Allahu feek.
Most new buildings have three brothers to a room, but each student has a 6.5 ft wall around his space (meaning you can still hear if people are making noise because the wall doesn’t reach to the ceiling, but you still have a decent amount of privacy), with a space for a door (which you can cover with a bedsheet or block with your wardrobe etc). Unfortunately, the old buildings don’t always have separation, so most students get creative and build it themselves out of bedsheets and washing line. One brother came last year and managed to get a carpenter to build him two 5.5ft free-standing partitions, which gave him a bit more privacy.
Still, there at least as many new buildings now as there are old, and if you got put in the old building, you could always ask to change.
The university has recently started clamping down on single students living outside the university, so if you wanted to live in your own accommodation, you’d probably have to start looking for that wife you mentioned…:-) (See my page on married life, since that’s a challenge in of itself!)
If a student has a room to himself, it’s only for a few weeks or even days, while the administration fill it up with new students as they arrive.
The only other option is that as far as I know, Riyadh university gives a private room to each student…or at least they used to. I don’t know if they’ve changed the system.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

When I have filled out the form in the past, I would have written “Australian” – however, I’ve heard that one or two brothers were given some trouble about a similar thing…
maybe you can write “Australian (parents are of Palestinian origin)” or something like that?
That’s what I was also concerned about, I appreciate your help. On the application it also asks for my “original nationality”, now I was born in Australia and have always been an Australian citizen, however my parents are Palestinian, so do I write that my original nationality is Palestinian or Australian? I look Palestinian and speak arabic etc..(if it makes a difference :s )
Wa alaykumussalaam br. Nabil.
In previous applications I have always written it in Arabic as well. However, I heard that once or twice they made the mistake of sending the letter to the Arabic address. The only thing that I’m concerned about is that they might need the Arabic address to enter into their computer system. I’ll try to ask brothers from the uni for more clarification, however I would suggest that if you are sending your application soon that you write the address in Arabic where stated.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Asalamu alaikom, brother on the application it asks for our mailing address in arabic, should I write it in arabic even though I live in a western English speaking country? JazaakAllah khair..I look forward to meeting you brother if I get accepted inshallah.
Assalamu Alaikum.
Dear brother, the question you raised regarding my age is true. But it is true that I am a Bangladeshi national, having Bangladeshi degree as well. When I previously wrote to you about my age e.d.28 and degree from Pakistan was rongly placed as someone else had an address closed to mine. I regret the inadvertant mistake. However, I would request your honour to look into the matter and try as a brother in Islam to extand your hand as far as possible on your part. May Allah reward you. Ameen!

Br, Nurul Islam / Abdul Hamid / And others
I have more than three posts from you with different ages (22 and 28)…besides I already answered your first one!!! (just scroll up the page to see the answer). I also have a set of posts from the same email in Arabic under different names. As for the Arabic letter, it seems to be a formal request for acceptance (under another different name), which should not be sent here, since this is not an official website (even though we have started co-operating with the university, that doesn’t make us the same as the official site). The formal request in Arabic should be sent to the university. Please visit their website, for information about how to contact them.

Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah br. Daud,
As far as I know from past experience, it’s more like August. I’ve never heard of anyone get notification of acceptance earlier than late May (and that was I think in my first year here), last year I think the list was posted in early August, but I can’t remember 100%.
It’s possible that it is different for certain countries, I’ll put the question on the list of things to revise with the administration dept. as per my latest post.
Wassalaamu alaykum,

I’ve heard that students get their responses at Easter time (March). Is this true or is it May time.

Wa alaykumussalam warahmatullah br. Ibrahim,
Ma shaa Allah! I think it’s excellent that you’ve got a desire to seek knowledge. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever takes a path seeking knowledge, Allah makes his path to Jannah easy”
As I’ve said many times, it is really difficult for me to comment on anyone’s individual chances. The university themselves don’t tell us, but we try to understand the way the system works based on experience with other students, and supporting eachother. Sometimes you think that a brother doesn’t have a good chance, and Allah makes it easy for him, and he gets accepted. Sometimes, you think that a brother has everything going for him, but the university doesn’t accept him. So, my advice is that if you feel that you want to apply, and you understand what the study entails, then apply, and ask Allah to give you the best in this world and in the hereafter.
What I think you should do is to read the site in detail, page by page. I think things will become clearer to you inshaa Allah. For example, I already discussed the courses on the site, and I discussed that most people enter into the Arabic language course, because you have to become fluent in Arabic.
Please read the pages in detail, and make istikhaarah to Allah to ask him to give you what is best. Also read the other comments at the bottom of each page, because many brothers ask the same questions. Once you are done, then if you want to take your application further, post another note here, and inshaa Allah we can take it from there.
There are also students here from the Maldives, who might be able to give you some more local advice. Once you are ready to apply, I can put you in touch with them inshaa Allah.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Br. Ibrahim,
One thing I wanted to add, which I missed at first glance is the problem of age. According to university rules every student must be no older than 25. They have been known to overlook this condition for some people, so it doesn’t necessarily mean that they will reject the application, but they are much more likely to reject it based on age. There were some other brothers with the same problem, I think you might find some comments if you look through the pages. If it turns out that the age is a problem, there are other alternatives, but probably not in a Saudi university, because as far as I know they all have the same condition about age. The other option of course is private study, however the problem is getting a visa. In any case, I’ll let you read through the site and see what you think.
asalamu alaikum, i have seen the application form, but i don’t know how to get my password.how can i do that please. i would also like to get the full adress of madinah university so that i can post my application form and my documents.and when is the last day of submission of application form.hope i can print out the application form and fill it and must the filling be in arabic? thanks.
Wa alaykumussalaam br Nurul Islam,
Download the application form from this page that says UNLOCKED. There should be no password.
The full address of the university is posted on the previous page here.
If you look through the site and the comments you’ll find a detailed explanation about the last day of submission. Basically, there is no last day, but if you hand your form in too late, it will be considered for the year after. I would guess the cut off point is just after Hajj, but they accept your papers all year round.
You can fill most of the form in English, except where it specifically says to fill in it Arabic, however I recommend you fill as much in Arabic as possible, since it makes it easier for them.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Wa alaykumussalaam,
Sure, you can go ahead and download the form, as well as the example form from here. They accept applications all year, but I would expect that if you are successful in applying inshaa Allah, you would be accepted for September 2010.
I would strongly advise you to read all of the pages on the site, one by one first, since your questions should be all answered there, and it will help to avoid confusion and make your application easier, inshaa Allah.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum,

Assalaamu alaykum br. Zakari,
There shouldn’t be a password on the application form if you download it from this site on the “application form” page, where it says “unlocked”. There is also an example form here that will tell you what you need to fill in inshaa Allah. The full address is also included.
You can fill most things in English, apart from where it says that you need to fill it in Arabic.
There is no last day for submitting the form, as is mentioned on the site as well. However, you most likely would be considered for 2010 now, not 2009, since I think they will have decided most of the students for 2009 by now.
Wassalaamu alaykum

oki abuabdirrahmanhumble. i think that is a bit late but i hope every 1 gets the good news.
I have applied for medina uni last summer while I was doing umrah. I was wondering if there is a list of names on who have been accepted. I went with a list of people and we all are exited. Some of us don’t know what to do next year, so it is kind of a big deal for us to be accepted.
Assalaamu alaykum br. Daud,
May Allah make it easy for you all!
The list should come out sometime between June and August, inshaa Allah the list will be posted on the site as soon as it comes out.

I think if you browse the site you will find everything you need to apply inshaa Allah. Please have a good look through the pages (at the top right hand side of the site) and then feel free to ask any questions that you have. May Allah give you tawfeeq and make your path to seeking knowledge easy,

Assalam Alekum. I have recently reverted to Islam, formally of a christian background. My son (formely known as Michael and know wishes to be known as Ismail) is Britishborn and has never left the UK. He introduced me into Islam after he took his shahadar last year 2008. My son is now 17 years old and will be 18 in May of this year. My son would like to study a degree in Business Studies and a diploma in Arabic at the university in 2010. He completed his secondary school ordinary level with 6 GCSEs which includes English Language but unfortunately failed Mathematics. Can you please advise us on the alterative route to gaining entry into the university for 2010 inshah Allah.
Please reply via
Wa alaykumussalaam Juliet.
May Allah make you and your son firm upon his religion, and give you the best in this world and the hereafter.
I will reply by email as you requested inshaa Allah.
One thing that I did want to make clear to everyone is that the university only specialises in Islamic studies, as opposed to some of the other Saudi universities which deal with non-Islamic subjects like business, science, medicine etc. I don’t know of any non-Saudis who have been on those courses, as far as I know it is restricted to Saudi nationals only and the Islamic subjects are the only subjects which are open for applications from abroad (obviously including Arabic).

I’m from London, United Kingdom. I am a Somalian but raised in Sweden as a child + was exposed to all kinds of sins but I wanted to change for the good. Anyway, I wanted to know where I can apply for the university? Do I have to go to Madina for the interview? Do you recommend me to go to the university while I’ve graduated from my high school, I’m 17 years old and I’m in a 6th form (more like a college but its in a school).
Wa alaykumussalaam,
May Allah give you tawfeeq in your search for knowledge!
There’s no reason why you can’t apply now, since GCSEs are the minimum requirement. Use the information on the site to find out how to apply, and more information about the interview process.

Wa alaykumussalaam br. Yassin,
From what I understand, you need to wait until you have confirmation of your high school grades. As soon as you have them you can apply. Inshaa Allah you will find everything on the site that you need, and if you have any questions feel free to post them here and I’ll do my best to answer.
The reason you have to wait for your high school grades is that the university requires you to have graduated from high school. As far as I know this applies to Canada as well as most other western countries, but you might want to double check with a student from Canada for more information.
May Allah make it easy for you,

The university doesn’t allow you to apply in advance. You need to be ready to enroll in the following year. Realistically, applications which are submitted after January are not considered for the following September, although there is no clear cut off date. Basically if you want to apply for September 2012, then aim to hand in your application sometime between Jan 2011 – Jan 2012. In the meantime, try to work on getting the best references you can, and doing as well as you can in your degree, as both are major factors in gaining acceptance, with the help of Allah.
May Allah make it easy for you,

Everything is in the hands of Allah the Exalted. Sometimes the best candidate doesn’t get accepted, and sometimes you don’t think someone will be accepted and they are.
However, from what you’ve told me I think you have an excellent chance – especially if you can get good references to support you.
May Allah give you tawfeeq,

Im born and raised in Norway, thou Im a muslim from birth, alhamdolillah. Turkish is my mother tounge, and I have a good knowledge in arabic language (still studying on my own…), thou i want to perfect it, inshaAllah.
Im 20 years old and studying petroleum engineering at the moment, and will complete my BS in June 2010, InshaAllah. From there I want to study at the University of Medinah.
You think I have a chance?
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Inshaa Allah it will weigh in your favour, especially if you can demonstrate your ability at an interview.
As for the box that you tick, I honestly don’t know. I would think that if you have completed level two/three or above but are not fluent, you would tick good, otherwise you wouldn’t, but that’s only an idea.
Wassalaamu alaykum, Muhammad
Assalamalaikum bro,
Just a quick question I have studied formal arabic i.e madinah arabic book 1 and if I complete further arabic courses but my reading, listening, writing and speaking varies do I still tick good. Isit more likely that you would be accepted if you know more arabic meaning I’m assuming it weighs quite in your favour if you have formally studied it before?
Also bro could your drop me your email add?
Jazak allah
