Another Update: Here are the answers to the brothers who asked me to check their names.
Update: Please read this post for more countries and how I’m going to proceed with the high volume of requests.
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu.
Here is the list of accepted students for Madinah and Riyadh.
Can I please ask the brothers to READ THIS before posting a comment.
The list for Madinah was released on the 10/08/2009, but didn’t reach us until 11/08. I have more than one person who is helping me with the list, but for now I just copied the list from some of the brothers, who I believe got it from hijrah.net.
The list does not contain every country. It seems to cover Europe and North/South America. There are brothers who have asked me for the list for certain other countries. Inshaa Allah, they will be updated as soon as I get them.
I have checked and confirmed the UK names as being correct, but I haven’t done so for the rest. There was a mistake with regard to some of the names of students from the USA. I am relying on the list from hijrah.net until I get it confirmed by one of the brothers I sent. Inshaa Allah, the list is now correct though.
Jazaa Allahu khayran all of the brothers who contributed to the list and the brothers at hijrah.net and fatwa-online.com for getting the list out so quickly. I have attempted to translate the names for the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. I am not going to transcribe the names from the other countries, since it’s hard enough to do it in English. If there is a brother who speaks the particular language of a country and wants to transcribe the names, you are more than welcome. Same goes for corrections of spelling, etc.
The riyaadh list has been out for a long time now. It is available in English and Arabic on their website here.
I don’t have the list for Makkah, if any brothers have it, please post it in the comments.
Brothers, please DO NOT rely on my attempt to transcribe the names into English, some of them may be very far away from the actual name. They are purely for information only.

Assalaam o alaykum,
I have put together a little something which deals with sisters and studying abroad. It took half a day for me to write. But ulhumdulillaah it’s all for the sake of Allaah.
Please have a read of:
http://theauthenticbase.wordpress.com/2010/02/24/opportunities-for-sisters-to-study-the-deen-live-in-saudi-arabia/
I have put in everything I know… Akhi Abdurrahman if you see anything where you can expand on, please do email me/get in touch with me.
Wassalaam o alaykum,
Akhookum: عمر ابن مظهر
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
I’ve read through it and it seems excellent. Only two things, I would add or at least try to find out about. One is that I know of a sister who was accepted on a scholarship to Jaami’atul Imaam in Riyadh from the UK. I think her brother was also studying there. I don’t know whether that means that they accept female students there, or just that she was an exception to the rule.
Secondly, is to possibly include princess noora university in Riyadh. Despite all of the various comments and disagreements over the sisters who were offering their services, it seems that the opportunity is actually there (or at least might be). We really need someone in Riyadh to do some ground work for us before we can really find out. I was thinking of writing a list of information that we need, and then asking Madinah uni to forward it to the university officially. I’m working on a list of information on the draft page, in the Other Universities category of the blog.
Hayyaak Allah,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
as Salam alaykum wa Rahmat’Allahi wa BArakatuhu,
also akhi, I wished to ask about whether the University (of Madinah) sends out letters, because the Imam of our Masjid here (who has studied there around the tme of the war in Kuwait) told me that the University used to send out letters. So for now, it is just the list (then someone from there informs you whether you are on it or not) and then you go directly to the Saudi authorities in your country of residence?
Barak’Allahu feek, wa Ameen to all your du’as, past, present and future (insha’Allah).
as Salam alaykum wa Rahmat’Allahi wa Barakatuhu,
your brother Salahudin
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
They do send out letters. The problem is that they often get lost in the post, or arrive late. I had to help loads of students who either didn’t receive a letter, or got it so late that they had to renew their visas.
They are going to move to a complete electronic system, in shaa Allah, in which you can log in to track your application, and get notification of your acceptance. In shaa Allah, this will be much better and more reliable. It is supposed to be going live in the next few months, in shaa Allah.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu.
Muhammad
salaam, i was happy reading your proposal about writing a letter to the admission office which you intend to translate and submit. but please, can you give a pivate e-mail to submit the ltter to it? but if you feel its no problem submitting via this mail, then i can do it.thank you very much
as Salam alaykum wa Rahmat’Allahi wa Barakatuhu my dear brother Muhammad,
jazak’Allah khayr for all the efforts you excert in the Path of Allah, to help your fellow brothers seek and find knowledge. May Allah increase you in the Blessing He has bestowed upon you. Ameen
I have applied before the end of Ramadan 2009, and I have done so in person at the university itself. I know that you might be getting this question quite often, but may you please indicate to me when the list for those accepted (those who applied before Hajj 2009) will be announced? A brother who is currently studying there told me that normally the list should be coming out right before Ramadan of this year (2010), insha’Allah.
Please help me out bear in patience, insha’Allah
wa as Salam alaykum wa Rahmat’Allahi wa Barakatuhu wa Maghfiratu
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Ameen, may Allah reward you with the same.
The list should be out sometime between the end of July and the beginning of Ramadhaan. In shaa Allah, we’ll post the list of accepted students here. I hope that all of the applications for 2011 will be using the electronic system, which will allow students to follow their applications via the internet, and receive email notification when they are accepted. This is scheduled to come online for applications submitted this summer onwards, in shaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Just before Ramadhaan is probably a good guess. It has come out as early as June, but in later years it seems to come out later and later. Even then, some students can get accepted a year or two late. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. One brother I know applied and was accepted two full years after he applied.
Allah knows best
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
salam bro, i am one the accepted students for this year. my ticket no has been sent wit admission letter already but i have a problem. i am doing second year in a professional school which i will round up in 2011 insha Allah. the government will integrate me directly then reason why they have refused to permit me go now. i can only go after i finish and assume duty, then i can go on leave. what can u advise me on this issue pls?
waiting for any useful comments
thank you and Allah bless you
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
May Allah make it easy for you.
The only thing that I can advise you, is that you prepare a letter to the Head of Admissions and you explain the situation and ask for permission for your acceptance to be delayed. If you write this in English, sign it, and scan it to me, inshaa Allah, I can translate it into Arabic and submit it to the proper department. I don’t know what their response will be, but I think this is probably the best option for you. Allah knows best.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
can look for my name at mam Ibn Saud Universit becaus i thing i am appected .
There are 24 accepted students for the second term at Imam Ibn Saud University. The first term has already finished and the students have enrolled, so if you were accepted I would assume it would be for the second term.
Their names are here: http://www.imamu.edu.sa/support_deanery/admissions/major_announcements/Pages/acceptlist1430-31.aspx
I can’t see your name on the list, but inshaa Allah, you can check yourself. You can also get in touch with them via the website for further information.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Salamualakum Warahmatallahu Wabarakatu
Akhi may allah bless you for your amazing care and commitment in helping your brothers. May allah forgive your sins and reward you.
Firstly brother seeing that arabic is such a key to ilm and opens up a lot of doors for seeking it, we all know its importance. However the question is how much time should we and can we put into learning it.
As you have said the first 2 years of arabic in the uni is a strong starter (especially in grammar and less for vocab) into arabic. I have recently gone through the first 2 books here and found them useful, the third is apparently much more.
I wanted to ask you,
1. Over in Medina how much more arabic do you learn outside of the class?
2. Is it hard to get used to and cope with being taught completely in arabic?
I heard that the faculty of shariah, hadith and faculty of dawa are the best for going to Medina and the faculty of arabic language there is not so good but arabic is a very important part in becoming knowledgeable.
3. Do you think the arabic you are taught and pick up before being put into a degree of ilm there enough to start learning it?
But then you have wrote that whichever faculty you’re in you get extra lessons in what you study.
4. Could you please explain how many hours you study of stuff outside the subject of your faculty and how many in the subject of your faculty?
5. Is arabic still taught to everyone in the other faculties after doing the 2 years in the general lessons outside of their faculty subjects?
Assalamwalaikum,
I dont know if u can help inshallah. A family friend has jus come back to uk from Riyadh they handed my App form in to imam uni in riyadh in the last week sometime. She said they will contact me direct. When does the year start in saudi universitys? what year would my application be put forward for?
Jazakallah
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Inshaa Allah, you’re application will be considered for September 2010, however that’s only an educated guess. Madinah has just started to round up all of the applications for 2010, so I guess Riyadh is similar. The names are published on the university website around July sometime. Inshaa Allah, we will also post the names here when they come out.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Salamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, Oh Brother in Islam, I have read all the stuff I am needed to do, for the most part I think I can do, but I just needed a bit on answering on my questions and I need a little bit of help with reference or contact, My question is, I know we can give the stuff in a package but I also know that we can go there for an interview. For the interview, is it before getting accepted or after? And my other question is I live in canada, Toronto. And am looking for atleast 2 good reference. If by any chance you know anyone then, can you please help me out, May ALLAH bless you in this Dunya And in the akhira.
Already replied to your first post.
i wish to ask two questions please. the first is that; are marreid students allowed to work at madinah islamic university? and secondly is it possible to defer the scholarship if one is sick or in another form of course?
Married students are allowed to study at the university, but they are not allowed to work while they are studying. They are also not allowed to bring their wives (officially, that is). Many students do work though, even though they are not supposed to, doing translations for example. See the pages on single and married students for more information.
It is possible to defer a term, but in practice they make it very difficult and most students are not allowed to return, even if they are given permission to leave, so it’s best to imagine that you can’t. If someone is sick, then they can stay at the university and be treated in the university hospital or another hospital in Madinah – this is no problem.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
asslaamu alykum. just to confirm. is there noone under sri lanka for the second list?
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
At the moment, I can’t be 100% sure. However, I think most people on the second list have received their letters by now and I don’t remember seeing Sri Lanka mentioned anywhere, so it doesn’t look like it. Allah knows best.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
pls can u also post any names from Mauritius. Jzk
what does happen with the brothers who wouldn’t accept? are they listet in any other list? thanks a lot, wa barakAllahu feek
Richard Adel from Germany
There are two lists. One is on “Accepted Students for 2009″ and is the first list.
The second list is on the new post “The Second List…” on the front page.
If someone isn’t on either list, then it seems that they have not been accepted this year and should try to apply next year. However, like I always say, I can never guarantee 100% the accuracy of the names on the list, however me & the brothers try our best and out of hundreds of names this year I think there were no more than two mistakes and both were because of similar names. So more or less…that’s it.
For those who haven’t been accepted, please try again, because many people are accepted after two or even three attempts. So my advice to them is not to give up.
Baarak Allahu feek.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Also please check for any names from Mauritius
JazakaAllah khair
Assalaamu alaykum,
At the moment I only have the Europe/US/Canada/Australia region list. I’ll see if I can find out about other countries inshaa Allah.
Wa alaykumussalaam,
Muhammad
Assalaamualykum,
Akhee, check my name as well please. check under UK and Sri Lanka.
First name:Bussam Nasheeth Sirname: Mohamed Siddeek
Akhee please put the name exactly as it says on the list.
Jazaa kallaahu khairaa.
There is only one person from the UK and I don’t have the list for Sri Lanka at the moment, but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for your name inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad

Salam Alaykum Wa Rahmat’Allahi Wa Barakatuh dear brother,
my name is Ayetullah Kaygusuz and I am from Germany.I have the Aqidah of Ahlul-Sunna-wal-Jama´at alhamdulillah. In June 2009 I have get the final secondary-school examinations. In July/August I have made an Umrah alhamdulillah. At that time I have registered University of Madinah. I have given off all the necessary documents and made also an interview with a Sheikh of the University. I decided to study Shariah. Till now, I wait for an answer, that the University accept me. My question is, when I get insaallah this answer, that i am accepted or not?
I hope you can help me with this question.
Yours sincerely
Ayetullah Kaygusuz
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Inshaa Allah, you will most likely get the answer in July/August 2010. I will check for your name and make sure inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
as salaam alleikhoem wa rahmatullahi wa barakatoeh,
I was wondering if you already have the new names of the second list, inshallah.

wa alleikhoem salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatoeh
Salam u alaikum
I want to ask, wher is the second list of the accepted students
My ALLAH bless you.
Wa alaikum salam
greats from Germany
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
As far as I can see they aren’t releasing the list, they’re just sending out the letters. It is only a handful of students and many countries don’t have anyone at all on the second list.
If I get any more information I’ll post it here inshaa Allah,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Assalaamu alykum,
I just wanted to ask when is the dead line to apply to the uni for 2010, also is there an age limit, i am 27 and from the UK
Jazakallah
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
I was searching for comments that I didn’t reply to and it seems that I didn’t reply to your comment, please accept my apologies.
There is no fixed deadline as such. They have a quota for each country, when that quota is filled they stop considering students for that year and they put their applications in the pile for the following year. As a rough guide, sometime around Hajj I would guess the quotas probably get full up. There should still be a chance at the moment, because the university is really late in sorting out the new students and hasn’t had much chance to look at new applications.
The official age limit is 25. There have been brothers who have been accepted older than 25 but this is the exception rather than the rule. Still, it’s always worth a try.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Wa ‘Alaykum As Salaam
Re-booking? For us in the UK I think the ticket was paid for, we merely had to make a reservation for the date of travel, and quote our ticket number from the university.
Also, aren’t you supposed to be flying with Saudi Arabian Airlines akhi?
Brothers from some countries have to use another airline for part of the way, and they have different procedures for changing the ticket.
Na-am, this is the issue that I am currently facing.
Assalaamu alykum,
A warning for us to take heed of:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Whoever seeks knowledge in order to compete with the scholars or to prove himself superior to the ignorant or to make the people look up to him, Allaah will cause him to enter Hell.”
(narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 2654; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’i).
Wassalaam.

Brother
This is Brendon McAnuff-Palmer, the student from Canada. I have another issue with RE-booking my ticket. The ticket(‘past-dated’) was dated for Sept. 28, 2009 and so I have to re-schedule it. I contacted BMI British Midland but was told that I have to contact the University to change it. Can you please direct me in this matter jazakallahu khayran.
Wa Alikum Salam
call the SaudiAirlines (416) 492-9282 it is at 2225 Sheppard Ave E North York, ON M2J 5C2 or this is the NY office 1-800-472-8342 have your ticket or the PNR number ready when you call them
May Allah make it easy for you
Yes, I called the Saudi Airlines but they can only handle the ticket from Jedda to Medinah- I need the Airline that handles my ticket/flight transfer from Canada to Jedda…. The only info that I have is BMI British Midland and they told me to contact the University to resolve the problem.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
I’ll check out the ticket issue for you on Saturday inshaa Allah.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,

Asalaamu alaykum brothers,
If anyone is interested in doing the CELTA course, I would definately recommend it. I completed it in 2008 and have posted all my assignments on the following link http://www.ismaeelbeaumont.wordpress.org. I plan to add more of my CELTA work in due course.
Wa alaykum salaam
alhamdulillah, I’m now booking my ticket and soon inshallah I’ll be in Medinah- jazakumullah khayr brothers for the help especially to Abu ‘AbdurRahmaan Humble- akhi I will inshallah write you a post outlining my whole application process for any reference in the future inshallah.
Assalaamu alaykum.
It’ll be great if you can let me know the process for Canada inshaa Allah,
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Assalaam o alaykum,
Also for those who didnt get in this year (or who are over the age limit) you can do a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course on top of your degree and that will insha-Allaah allow you to go abroad (like SAUDI!!!) to teach english.
If anyone is interested they can go to:
http://www.eslbase.com/courses/uk/
… for a list of institutes that will give you the qualification. Its only a 110 hours course, which includes 50 hours online (at ur home) program.
There are also other options available with regards to the amount of learning you wish to do etc. the best one i could find on that list was:
http://www.teflengland.co.uk/
because it is also approved by ADLQC and SQA as well as other recognised centres.
InshaAllaah you have found this usefull,
wassalaam o alaykum,
P.s, anyone know any1 in riyadh? lol
Assalaam o alaykum,
If anyone is going to their post office to send your docs via the ‘Royal Mail International Signed For’ (AKA; ‘Record Delivery’) then remember to take a good amount of money with you…. It cost me £5.89 to send each document! (I thought it would be like a quid or two… But ulhumdulillaah it’s all good inshaAllaah) That was a total of £11.78 as i sent 2 documents (Umm Al-Qura & Madeenah uni App.)… So keep that in mind when you (anyone applying) is sending your docs…
ALSO, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME IN SENDING MY IMAM MUHAMAD BIN SAUD APP. FORM???
It says that they don’t accept it unless someone goes their to hand it in by hand… Last year I got a mates mate to do it for me, but Allaau ‘alam where he is now. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME? Does ANYONE know anyone in Riyadh?
Asalaamu alaykum akhee al kareem,
keep up the fantastic work. Just to let you know that I have the 13 digit ticket number for the following UK students:
1. sidat mohammed asad ahmed
2. rashid ahmed
3. imran mohammed azharal islam
4. richard gregory
5. mohammed gulam muhith
6. khalid rayhaan mansoor saeed
7. gulmobeen auranyzeb
8. ahmed adil sharif
9. khalid rashid muradi

JazakAllaahu khayr
Assalmu alykum ahki abuabdirrahmanhumble may allah reward you for helping us ahki plz brother can you scan me my letter plz its still in Medina my cousin gave me the visa number and ticket number but i want to get a copy i am leaving to dc in’shallah Monday so can you email me ahki plz, <> thanks brother
Inshaa Allah, will do now.
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
I’m replying to everyone in one post inshaa Allah, since I’ve been away for a couple of weeks. I only got my internet connected today, it was a lot of hassle.
As regards a second list, I haven’t heard anything. The university has never done so in the past. You have to be careful, there are a lot of rumours go around. There’s no reason why they couldn’t accept students in February, for the start of the second term, at least theoretically, but they’ve never ever done it before, and there has been no announcement made for this year that I’ve seen.
In terms of letters, is there only brother Saaleh waiting? I’m going again on Saturday, so if anyone else needs letters, now is the time to mention it. Have either of the other two brothers had any problems with the letters I sent them (there seems to be some confusion over whether they need a stamp), or have they not tried yet?
In terms of the visas, almost all, if not all of the countries have received the visas by now. There isn’t much time left, as I think they expire in about two weeks if I remember the letter correctly.
If there is anyone who is still having problems, please let me know so that I can collate everything and get it processed on Saturday when the uni opens again inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
jazakallahu khayran brother for the reply- this is Saaleh(Brendon McAnuff Palmer
I’ve been trying to get a copy of my letter for a while now- A few of my brothers in the University tried to send it but the University requested a ‘letter of permission’ from me first. I tried to fax it but qadr of Allah, the man on the Saudi didn’t know how to work his fax machine.
You got a copy of one letter before so did the rules change? Can you still scan it for me? And after reading your comment- is it a good idea since it may need some sort of stamp?
Another thing, I called my friend just before he was off to school and he said that most of the accepted students haven’t arrived as of yet- perhaps, we are all having the same issue- do you know anything about that?
wa iyaak,
Inshaa Allah I’ll be able to get it for you on Saturday. They know me so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I’ll ask about the stamp to make sure. I was hoping to hear whether any of the other two brothers had got their visas without a stamp.
Most students are in the process of sorting visas, as far as I know. I think a lot will be arriving next week and the week after inshaa Allah.
I’ll send you an email on Saturday afternoon inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
BTW, can you email me your permission letter, just in case I need it.
has anyone got their letter yet? I’m still trying to get my letter! sabrun jameel
akhi can you remember to email me a scan of my acceptance letter jazakallahu khayran-
Secon List when and how?
As I’ve said before, I’ve seen nothing to suggest that the ‘second list’ is anything more than a rumor. Allah knows best.
As salaamu alaika,
Mashallah, I’ve been accepted for this year (from the US) and like some of the other brothers, I’m having a hard time getting things together. And with school having started already and things being so delayed, I’m getting nervous that I may miss the chance to go! Could you email me please, I wanted to ask you a couple questions. Jazaakallahu khayran Akhee.
Will do now, inshaa Allah.
assalmualykum brother abubohtari
i just heard from some one that there is a 2nd list coming out. and i am not sure if that is true. i know abot 7 people who applied and there name is not mentioned in the previous list.
akhi it’s less than a month before the deadline for applying for your visa- how will the list come out now? And the school year already started on top of that.

as salam aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh!
i heard there is a second list will come out soon for 2009, inshallah! Did anyone heard about this, too? If yes, have you got more information about that?
please, send me a copy of your answer to my email adress:
mejastic@gmx.net
May Allah gives for you the adjr. Amin!
barakAllahu feek wa salamu aleykum wa rahmatullah
from where did u here about the second list?
Afwan ya ikhwan, is this just here-say? A 2nd list has never come out ever in the history of the university… so why now? Afwan, it just seems ajeeb, really… barakallahu feekum
I agree.
assalmu alykum i tried calling the embassy so many times nobody picks up brothers if anybody finds out that medina issued the visa plz post it up asap so we can send in our paper works in’shallah. i guess everybody is waiting on the embassy so plz let us know, school is abt to start soon.
P.S. i called before eid and they pick-up and medina didnt issue no visa.
brotha daud wiegh in your source akhi
i have heard there is a 2nd list comming. is this true
Nup, not me, and one other bro I know don’t have our letters.
I’m not too sure, but I thought the visa took only a few days to arrive? In any case it’s probably really relaxed over there due to it still being Eid holidays, and they will only be getting back to work now. Also, diplomatic offices are probably swamped with requests from people due to one reason or another coming back from ‘umrah.
IT will come soon insha’Allah
Yea I haven’t received my letter either. Also, I’m not in contact with any of the other accepted students in Canada… it’s funny I always here complaints about Saudi administrative processes how they’re always delayed and filled with easy ‘avoidables’… I would have expected the letters to arrive shortly after the acceptance list was revealed and I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t take 2 months to ship a letter. Sabr ya Ikhwaan!!!
I think right now almost everybody must have his letter , but whats with the visa numbers someone told me the university has to send these numbers to the embassy and then they give u ur visa??? How long does it take
assalmu alykum Eid mubarak my brothers, brother abu abdirrahman may allah reward you for helping all of us in’shallah, ahki i wanted to know did the visa be issued for the usa students once you found out please let us know. also i never recieved my letter also, in’shallah if you can help me it be great, in’shallah ma’ssalm
as salam aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh!

Well, I am not from Canada, rather the UK. I am yet awaiting the acceptance letter too. Insha’Allah soon, seeing as term apparently starts on 26th Sept.
However, I think there is also a 1 month period for those who come late, in which they are still able to enroll.
Notify Abu Abdirrahman insha’Allah. But don’t expect a reply too soon.. it is the last 10 days after all
Salamu Alaykum
If i had an interview and the interviewer checked Yuqbal on his paper does that mean ive mean accpected or are there other prcedures the application must go through Jakallahu Khair
I love you for the plessure of Allah.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
May the One for whom you have loved me, love you.
As far as I know…and I must admit that I don’t know for certain…the decision is made by a committee who review each of the applications. The fact that he ticked ‘yuqbal’ I think means that as far as the interviewer is concerned there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be accepted. The actual decision will be made by the committee though. I guess it’s kind of like passing the first stage of a job interview, but knowing that you still have to get past stages 2 and 3.
In any case, you got off to a great start…may Allah bless you in your search for knowledge,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Have any of the students accepted from Canada received their letters of acceptance yet? I’m trying to apply for my Visa and this is the only document that I’m waiting on…
Inshaa Allah I’m back to Saudi on the 28th September and I can sort out the admin for anyone who hasn’t yet received their letter. In the mean time, make sure to check that it wasn’t delivered to the Islamic organisation which you wrote on your acceptance letter by mistake.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Yea akhi, I just called the Saudi Bureau here in Canada and they said that they haven’t received the letters yet?! Is this normal- I mean, the school year started all ready- it seems odd to me…
Oh and another thing akhi I haven’t recieved my letter, although I have followed the instructions on your site and have got some of the papers together.
Inshaa Allah, it won’t be a problem for you.
As Salaam Alaykum,
Akhi Abu Abirrahman can you contact me please as I am one of those accepted. Having a little trouble getting the papers together and I am aware the time of the semester starting is fast approaching, so your help would be much appreciated.
Please do get in touch as soon as you are able.
Jzak Allaahu Khayra.
Was Salaam.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Sorry for the delay in replying, inshaa Allah I’ll send you an email now.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad

As Salaamu ‘Alaykum
I checked at the Masjid, and the post has come, yet no letter.
I will send you an e-mail insha’Allah.
Was Salaamu ‘Alaykum
Assalaamu alykum Bro,
I have not recieved the letter and todays posts have come.
I am Nasheeth Mohamed Siddeek. My name is under Sri Lanka even though i am in london.
Jazaa kallaahu khairaa.
wassalaam.
Assalaamu alykum Bro,
I have not recieved the letter and todays posts have come.
I am Nasheeth Mohamed Siddeek and my name is under Sri Lanka even though i am in london.
wassalaam.
Assalaam alaikum brothers,
Some of us in Maldives have got our letters including me, Alhamdhulillah.
Jazaakallah
Subhan’alladhee Laa Ilaaha Illahu… Just me then? I’ll let you know tomorrow insha’Allah, as I still haven’t received it…
I will ask at the local Masjid as well…
ALLAAHU AKBAR…
Just posted a message up and 1hour and 17mins later I got the glad tidings of my confirmation letter from the University of Medina. Strangely enough it was delivered to my local Mosque. Anyway, Alhamdulilllaah.
Al hamdulillah!!
My question still stands though for the other brothers…is there anyone who still hasn’t got their letter? You have until Tuesday night to let me know…
Asalaamu ‘alaykum Abu Abdir Rahmaan,
InshaAllaah all is well with you. I received confirmation two days ago from a friend who is currently applying for the Jaami’a in Medina that it is actually me who has been accpeted. I was slightly concerned thinking perhaps there is another Christopher Beaumont out there. Alhamdulillaah the Jaami’a were very helpful and they showed him a photograph.
Can I kindly request you to try and also get me a scanned letter from Medina also inshaAllaah. As you know October is fastly approaching and I would like to be prepared inshaAllaah. The confirmation letter is a big hurdle at the moment.
JazakAllaahu khayr
Wa’ ‘alaykum salaam
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Before I do that, I have to find out from the rest of the students whether everyone has received theirs or not. If everyone has received theirs apart from you, then I’ll get you a scanned copy, otherwise I have to wait. I know it’s holding you back, but I really do need to confirm that it has been lost in the post before I request a second copy. The second copy isn’t a true original as well (they don’t sign it for a start), so it’s best only to use it if the original really has been lost.
If I could get an update from the other brothers who have been accepted? Wednesday is the last day before they break up for the last 10 days of Ramadhaan, so either way I need to know by the end of tomorrow.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
assalaamualykum
sorry, i realised you are not in madinah. but are you in England?
wassalaam
Wa alaykumussalaam,
See the comment above,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
assalaamualykum,
are you presently in England or madinah ?
wassalaam.
Wa alaykumussalaam,
I’m going back to Madinah in about 2 weeks time inshaa Allah. At the moment I’m in England, but I’ve got friends over there who can help from that side if needed inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Assalaamualykum
Brother Abuabdirrahmanhumble. If you dont mind, can you please email your phone number to [email address removed to prevent spam] because i need help sorting out my visa process. When i applied to medinah i was in london but i had Srilankan passport. later on i got my british passport but my name is under sri lanka. what should i do? i have hardly done anything prepare for my visa since i am confused. could you please help me.
wassalaam.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Wa iyaak.
Inshaa Allah I’ll try my best. It might take about a month or so until I get back to Madinah.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Muhammad
As-salamu ‘alaykum,
I am french, my name is Redouane and I plan on applying to Madinah Univ. for next year ? Could you, please, put me in touch with a current french student ?
Jazak Allahu khairan kathira,
May Allah reward for making it easy for people who seek knowledge
Redouane
As Salaamu ‘Alaykum,
Waah masha’Allah, MD Gulam Muhith got his letter!
Do the letters usually come at different times do you know…or..?
Wa alaykumussalaam.
They should have all been sent at the same time, but it isn’t the most efficient postal service in the world and there are sometimes problems with addresses.
Wait another week or so and then let me know if you still haven’t got your letter and I can try to get you a copy scanned from Madinah, like I did for the brother Adam.
Use the other students as a guide as well. If you find that everyone has their letter apart from you, then it’s worth getting a copy. If only one person has received it so far, it’s probably just that his got through the postal system a bit early.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
asalaam aleikum ikhwaan i was wondering if someone has the list for umul quraa 2009 if yes then can you check the following two names Mohamed Hussein and Ismaeel or Ismaiil mohamed Aden
Lol, Subhan’Allah no problem, I didn’t read a reply e-mail if you sent it though?
The comment was on 2nd September, so I was speaking for that day. So on 2nd September we haven’t (or I haven’t) received the letters.
Sorry akhee, unable to make it today. I have to visit family inshaAllaah. How do you know the date of the letters?
UK Brothers still haven’t got there letters as far as I know, Wednesday 2nd Sept.
brothers in kenya have recieved their letters
no brother.
Assalaam alaikum brothers, when do you think that we would get the the letters. Is there any other information available from the list of Maldives. I mean like identity card numbers regarding the names of the students from Maldives.
Jazaakallah hayr.
Wa alaykumussalaam,
I would expect that at least some brothers would have received their letters by now…any news from anyone?
salam alaykum brother muhammed ramadhan mubarik akhi
if you have time can you please find out if the electronic regestration is up and running and if it is then do they want us to scan and attach our documents cause it says email the documents>>. see this link akhi http://www.iu.edu.sa/content.aspx?id=814
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Sorry for the late reply bro.
Last time I asked them they told me it wasn’t working and students should use the old system of paper based submission, since they are moving over to a totally computerized system which will deal with applications in a different way inshaa Allah,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Masha’Allah TabaarakAllah! Allah has blessed you with an eloquent tongue!
I gave some background on me, school I went to, then went on to say prestigious university in the middle east and is on behalf of KSA’s efforts to quash extremism. Then I said I want it on official stationery with a stamp, and it was recommended that it should be photocopied each with a stamp so I asked for three.
Perhaps I will post a template letter which Abu ‘Abdirrahman can use on the accepted students page, if he wishes.
One brother I spoke to said he did not know a single person who had gotten the letter, and quite a few brothers end up faking it subhan’Allah!
I normally advise the brothers to get an introductory letter from a reputable community organisation. We have an organisation in Newcastle that works with local government in an advisory role, to support the Muslims etc.
They normally give a letter which mentions their experience and expertise in combating violent extremism (PVE – preventing violent extremism, is the latest government ‘buzzword’) and that a vital part of the Muslim community’s ability to effectively respond to extremism and those who perpetrate extremist views is sending gifted students to receive detailed education in many aspects of Islam, including refuting and combating violent extremism, and helping to work towards building understanding and community cohesion (another ‘buzzword’), as well as providing an effective response to the internal threat of those who commit acts of terrorism in the name of Islam.
…. has been accepted in the prestigious university of Madinah, one of only a few hand-picked students who were chosen to complete a scholarship in Islamic studies. As part of the Saudi government’s system of accepting foreign students, they require that a local MP provides the student with a letter on headed paper to say that they “know of no reason why the student shouldn’t study in the Islamic university”. Whilst we understand that this will no doubt sound strange to someone acquainted with the British way of doing things, we feel that it is important to respect their wishes and to recognise that not every governmental system works in the same way. This letter in no way obliges you to be responsible for the student, and you are welcome to state so in your letter. It is simply a letter to say that you know of no reason why … should not study abroad. This system has been running for over 5 years now, and we have successfully obtained letters for students from a wide range of government officials without any problems so far, and we look forward to continuing to do so, as long as the Saudi Arabian government continues to make this a requirement.
In a recent visit to the university, Sadiq Khan MP, expressed his desire for the government to do everything in their power to encourage more students to attend this university, in order to support the need for authentic knowledge to counter the mis-interpretations of those involved in extremist preaching. This is something which has been expressed by MPs and governmental officials of all parties.
Then take them on a guilt trip…we are certain that in your role as …, you will be keen to support this measure, as part of the … party’s clear stance on combating violent extremism and working towards a safe and cohesive community, who work together in mutual understanding to combat all forms of extremism and extremist preaching.
Signed….influential community leader
Salaam!
Hope everything/1′s good and sorry for disturbance.
Update: I have received my letter two days back on the 2nd September around 10:30am. Was soo happy to see it and can confirm that i HAVE been accepted and they (uni) used my most recent application.
Quick questions: What is that organisation in newcastle (name), is it well recognised? & do you think there are any such organisations working with local government in Birmingham UK?
What would happen if nothing can be obtained from the government or MP?
& is there a REAL need of translating the docs or can i take them to embassy and it’ll be OK?
Request: Sorry but When possible can you please answer (especially regarding money) my comment on the ‘single student page’ please
Jazak-Allah, gota go to sleep
Salaam
MD Gulam Muhith
Assalaamu alaykum,
The organisation’s name is IDC http://www.idc-online.org. They and their sister organisation EMTEP http://www.emtep.org, do a lot of work all over the country. The brother who runs the project is also a member of various organisations and governmental bodies including the national Race Advisory Group, and he trains a lot of public sector workers in Islamic religious and cultural sensitivities, policy making etc. Having said that the organisation is targeted at the North East of England, so I’ll get in touch with the brother and ask him about similar efforts in Birmingham. There might even be some brothers in Green Lane who might be able to help, since some of them are..erm..more politically active, so to speak.
You need the translations before you reach Madinah, the cultural attache might not give you your ticket unless you have them, or it might not be an issue, since they do have translators working for the uni in Madinah. Anyway, better safe than sorry, get one of the brothers to translate it for you. I can give them the templates, and they should just have to fill in the grades etc.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Alhamdulillaah she was willing to give it MashaAllaah. She even sent it on headed paper with her picture on it.
I emailed her explaining that I am a university graduate who has a fervent desire to study Islam in one of the most prestigious universities in the world in an attempt to clarify the miss-conceptions in the West. I went onto ask her to aid me in this noble endeavour (Or words to that effect).
Wa ‘alaykum salaam
MashaAllaah ‘alayka akhee,
I see you have already began personalising this whole experience ‘accepted1430@gmail.com’ LOL.
I agree with you akh, it would be nice to experience this experience with someone. Alhamdulillaah I have already obtained my letter from my MP when I originally applied a while ago. I send you an email and we can speak in greater detail billaahi Tawfeeq
Wa ‘alaykum salaam
Lol, walhamdulillah.
Masha’Allah, was he willing to give it? Unfortunately my MP is very pro-Israel and therefore does not have good contacts with the local masjid upon the sunnah. But insha’Allah, we’ll see.
Did you send that e-mail yet because I checked my inbox and haven’t received anything…?
No letter as of yet akh…
As Salaamu ‘Alaykum Isma’eel,
my e-mail address is accepted1430@gmail.com if you want to talk about the embassy stuff. I’m just about to send off the MP letter.
I think the brothers from the UK should go together to do stuff, it will make it much easier for us if we are not alone. Plus a bit of company wouldn’t go amiss walking from one office to the other : D
Any one got the letter.?
Asalaamualaykum akhee. I sent you an email a while ago, if you could reply to it inshaAllah r.e re applying. jazakAllahu khayr for all your hard work akhee, it is really appreciated.
Salamu ALaykum Insha Allah the brothers Muhammads answer will be better than mine, but theres a brother I know he also applied 2 years ago and alhamdullah his name was on those accepted this year so insha Allah its you. May Allah give you Tawfeeq
Asalaamu alaykum akhee al kareem,
JazakAllaahu khayr for your efforts in updating the Muslims regarding the acceptance status.
My name ‘Christopher Beaumont’ was on the accepted list for 2009 and I’m from England, South London. My acceptance was extremely surprising for me because I applied the year before last and was unsuccessful. Is it usually that the university will reject you one year and accept you the following without you re-applying?
I sure do hope it is me unless there is another Christopher Beaumont about who is a revert and also applied for the Jaami’a….(It’s possible)
I have been to the Saudi Cultural Center in London and have also called and emailed them on many occasions, but to no avail. Is there any way you can do the following for me please akhee al kareem;
1. Somehow find out if I am the Christopher Beaumont they are referring to. (I can give you my email address and you can email me anything that is personal)
2. Try and find out when the list will be sent through to the Saudi Cultural Center in London.
May Allaah accept our Siyaam, Qiyaam and our Ramadhan, Ameen
JazakAllaahu li kulli khayr, your brother Ismaeel
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Apologies for the late reply once again…
Inshaa Allah, you are the person they are referring to. The Saudi Cultural Center won’t give you any information, but is almost impossible for there to be two people with the name Christopher Beaumont, who both applied to the university last year…akhi, honestly, you can be pretty confident! Besides, if they have two conflicting names, they are supposed to distinguish between them.
You should be getting your letter by the end of next week inshaa Allah. If you haven’t received your letter by the end of next week, let me know. Maybe you’ve already received it by now, since I’m replying to this very late.
Baarak Allahu feek,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Salam alaikum , Does anyone know something about the acceptence list of Umm al Qura in Mekka ? and about the complete list of Imam ibn Saud Uni in Riyadh , becaus there aren`t brothers from Europe or Amerika on the acceptencelist.
BarakAllahufiek
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
The Riyadh list is complete. You have to remember that they only accept a handful of non-Saudi students every year. Only one brother from Canada was accepted.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
nope.
As Salaamu ‘Alaykum
Has anyone received the acceptance letter yet? It’s been two weeks..
I saw my comment is under moderation.can you delete both of my comments, please?
wa alykum assalaam wa rahamatullaah
Allaahu a’lam. dont it resemble a human face? with the nose eyes and mouth like us?
wassalaam
Have you got any news from UMM UL QURA UNIVERSITY? If not then when are you expecting to update us with that news in future inshaAllaah?
Its the bottom 5 just look at the list for germany
Assalaamu alykum
i think the brothers should not use smileys, since they are still pictures. and we know these kind of pictures are haram.
wassalaam.
Wassalaamu alaykum br. Naheeth,
Jazaakallahu khayran for your advice. I was under the impression that crude icons like these which do not bear any real resemblance to Allah’s creation were not included in the ruling on tasweer. If any of the brothers know of this question being asked to a person of knowledge then let me know – I can’t say it’s something that I’ve heard asked before.
Allah knows best.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
As salam alaikum,
Theres a mistake in the list. Its only 10 students from albania not 15 the other 5 are from germany. Albania and Almania
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah
Any idea if it’s the top 5 or the bottom 5 who should be in the German list?
As Salaamu ‘Alaykum
Since this is the most read page on the website, I thought I would inform you here and I couldn’t see the news.
Ramadhaan will commence insha’Allah on Friday evening insha’Allah 21st August. Just to clarify the actual fasting will be on saturday.
Was Salaamu ‘Alaykum
ASlaaam’alaykum brothers,
This questions is open for anyone to answer inshallah. Can anyone confirm whether or not Medina University will accept students for January. I heard that they accept some students that applied for September and didn’t get in. If anyone can provide the details inshallah. As well if this is the case how does one know if he got in January.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Inshaa Allah I’ll try to get you a confirmed answer, but for the mean time, we know the following things:
They have never done so in the past for students who need to learn Arabic
They haven’t announced that they are going to do it this year, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not true
They always post a list of accepted students, so the same would happen, and they would post out a letter as well
In general I would be very very surprised if they did, but there’s no real reason why they couldn’t, since the whole uni now operates on a term-by-term basis. I guess it’s just a logistical problem of organising everything.
Inshaa Allah, I’ll ask one of the brothers to check for you when he goes next time…
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Still no news on Umm al Qura?
Asalamulykum brother.
how many broters apply For the university each year?
Wa alaykumussalaam,
It’s hard to say. But I would guess the acceptance rate is probably around 25% on average, so if we say that around 750 students are accepted each year, I would guess that around 3000 apply. I’m only guessing though…Allah knows best.
assalaamu alykum,
Akhee, when you think the letters will come?
wassalaam.
Wa alaykumussalaam,
They do take a long time. I’m guessing 2-3 weeks, but it’s only a guess.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Assalamualaikum wr wb,
Brother, can you delete my e-mail from your list, because everytime someone posts a comment on your blog I get an e-mail and my mailbox becomes full.
Baarak Allahu feek
Wa alaykumussaalam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu br. Mansoor,
Any ideas how I do that? Are you sure you don’t have to do it from your account? Something like unsubscribe?
Wa feeka Baarak,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
As-salam Alaikum brothers.
Can anyone help me to get additional Information about selected students from Maldives? I mean like Identity Card numbers. Wsalam
Wa alaykumusalaam warahmatullah,
Why would you need that?
Baarak Allahu feek
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
As-salam Alaikum
Just to check whether me and my freinds are selected. Because there may be two persons with same name.
Wsalam
Inshaa Allah, the university will clarify if there are two applicants with the same name. For example if Abdullah Muhammad applies from England, and another Abdullah Muhammad applies, then they should clarify both names like: Abdullah Muhammad Ahmad & Abdullah Muhammad Ya’qoob. If there is only one name and it matches the name of a person who applied, then I think inshaa Allah the person has been accepted. However, any detailed queries should be requested by phoning the university, or waiting for the acceptence letter.
I would feel very uncomfortable posting anything more than a name on the website, as this information could be used in a negative way and might make problems for some brothers.
Inshaa Allah everything will become clear soon
May Allah give you success,
Muhammad
brotha muhammed humble
1 what are the chances of acceptance for one from western countries who sends his app wit current students, have there been students accept like this?
2 does authensizing documents at this stage help the chances of the applicant?
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
1. Of course…many students have been accepted in this way, but an interview is always recommended.
2. No not at all…I would seriously advise you not to have your documents authenticated, it doesn’t help at all.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Salam3lukum brother
I wanted to know what time is best to come for an interview because i was thinking of propering my quran/hifd before id come, and is it alright to submitte the applection through a friend and come for an interview to submit it again
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Take a look at the front page for a post: ‘Important: Site updates and collaboration with the university.’ This talks about times when you should come for an interview.
As I mentioned, they don’t have a fixed cut-off point for applications, but I highly recommend that you submit your application before Hajj.
I wouldn’t worry too much about your Qur’aan. It’s obviously important, and it’s something which they take into account. But if you delay the interview too long you might make more of a problem than you benefit. Allah knows best.
You can submit your paper application via a friend and then come for interview later, but don’t leave your interview too late.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Assalaam o alaykum,
Akhi i have a quick question for u; im applying again to madinah and the other 2 unis, but wht do u think i shud do; should i (A.) apply with my college grades which ere good, or shud i (B.) apply with my uni grades which are horribly poor?
bcz aparntly they want someone who has over 80% in their grades (as i read) tho i asked abu usama and he said that dont mean anything (he said he didnt even go uni or something or mayb he said he also got poor grades – i dnt remember exacty what he said)….so my point being; which grades shud i apply with? college grades which r ok or uni grades which are poor?
Jazaak-Allaahu khair for all ur help ur doing here.
masha-Allaah i dnt knw how u get time out from ur schedule to help bros on this site. May Allaah bless u, ameen
Wassalaam o alaykum,
Akhook: Omar
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Apply with your college grades bro, because they don’t care about university anyway. They officially ‘ignore’ university grades, so I normally only advise brothers to submit them if they’re really good, or if more than 5 years has passed since college.
Don’t worry about a particular percentage. Inshaa Allah what you have will be fine.
May Allah make your search for knowledge easy,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

As-salaamu-alaikum warahmatullah
who usually gives out interviews are their specific people or some students are requried to give interview like students doing phd and masters are recommened to do interviews
JazaakAllaahu Khairan
As-salaamu-alaikum warahmatullah
Abuabdirrahmanhumble what are the possible questions they ask you in an interview examples would be great ( for example 5 pillars of islam) and is it possible for them to accepted you on the spot for next year like the admission person giving the interview would be like you have been admitted for 2010 and you go back to your country knowing that you have been admitted for the 2010 year and how do you look for english speaking people to interview you
Jazakallah khair
Wa ‘alaykum assalamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,
Afwan, I know you’re waiting for a reply from the host but this question, I feel I could answer since it pretty much happened to me.
-Really, WHO you have the interview with can play a big factor on your acceptance. Some interviewers may even toss your application in the garbage after you leave- it happened before and yes, it’s a grim reality. You should try to set an interview with someone with a doctorate and with good character.
-I had my interview with sheikh Saalih as-Sindee; PHD at 29! He is well known for his mannerisms; my friends in the jaami’ah would always bring that up about him.
-Just ask a student who knows english to translate for you.
-He asked me questions such as: where is Allah? what is the proof?, who were the 4 Caliphs? How much Quran do you know? He will ask you to recite. . . and some other questions.
-These may seem really easy but I think that’s because I’m a revert. One good thing was the fact that I knew more Quran at that time than most brothers who applied and they’re born-muslims.
He told me I got in right after the interview Allahu Akbar. It seems great and it helped my deen a lot because of one reason. I knew that it could change in between that time and the release of the names qadrullah- I was so worried that it would happen on account of sins. I would check myself constantly and I still do- it helped my deen a lot.
This is a big blessing and seeking knowledge is a big fitnah- if we are not sincere and we do it for maybe the degree or to have a position or to be recognized or something- perhaps Allah is protecting us from destruction by not allowing us to be admitted we should think about that. May Allah keep our intentions sincere -truly seeking the pleasure of Allah in our search for knowledge.
Ameen.
Jazakallahu khair Saaleh al-Kanadi
just a couple more questions if you dont mind what papers do you need to bring to the interview (example high school diploma authentic versizon transcript letters of recommendation) if you could list all the papers in order from the most important to the least improtant would be great and how long is the average interview and do you have to book an interview a day before may Allah make it easy for you during your years in madinah
jazakallahu kahir
There is a page on this site that lists the documents that you need. Also no need to book an interview, just come on the day. However, make sure not to leave it until the last day that you are in Madinah.
Baarak Allahu feek br. Saaleh.
I totally agree with you…what you wrote is excellent advice.
May Allah bless our shaykh Saaleh As-Sindi and may He continue to allow us to benefit from him.
As-salaamu-alaikum warahmatullah Brother Abuabdirrahmanhumble,
This is Badruddin Parkar from Australia again. Is there any way to find out from which part of Australia the fifth name listed on the Australian list is from: Abdullah Ahmad? I have two sons named Abdullah and Ahmed who applied from Perth, Australia and they had an interview at the University in June 2008. Jazak-Allahu khairan for all your efforts.
will there be more people added on the list on the countries mention above or are they final.
As far as I know they should all be final, but I’m waiting for confirmation with regard to Canada, because some of the brothers thought that there should have been more. At the moment though, everything seems like it is complete.
the list show about 160 people and i thought that they accepted about 1000 studants each year.
The list on this site doesn’t include Africa or Asia (see the update at the top of the page), which is probably another 300 students. The rest are from the Middle East and Saudi itself has a very large number of students. I’m guessing a total of around 750 but I could be wrong.
Allah knows best.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
As-salaamu ‘alaikum akhee AbdurRahmaan
Could you please post the names of the South African students who have been accepted?
JazaakAllaahu Khairan
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Do I have to post the whole country, or can I just check a particular name? (See the update at the top of the page)
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Muhammad
Assalam Alaikum,
Could you please check for the name Muhammad Hasan in the list of Pakistani students?
Wa alaykumussalaam,
Inshaa Allah, on Saturday.
as salam alaykum
abuabdirrahmanhumble is it a good time to go for umrah now like going for umrah in ramadan and being able to schedule a interview with the university ( or university admission is not open during ramadan) but if so is it a good time and is there a chance they will still accpted you for this year
Jazakallah khair
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Bro, please read the main page under “Important: Site updates and collaboration with the university” for information about when you can go in Ramadhaan.
There is no way to be accepted for this year, applications are now being considered for September 2010 start. There is no official cut-off point, but realistically, you need to get your application to the university before Hajj to have a good chance of being considered for the following year.
Allah knows best.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
As Salamu Aalaikum
Saaleh Al Kanadi
can you give me your email please i live in montreal

akhi cold you post the list of accepted students in Mekka
barakallahu feek
wa salam u alaikum
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Bro, I honestly don’t have any contacts in Makkah. I’m relying on other brothers who use the site who might know where the list is published. Maybe I can check out their website and see if it’s on there.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Allahu Akbar! I’m 2nd for Canada. Make dua for me brothers Allahu Akbar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ma shaa Allah….may Allah make it easy for you…
TO ALL BROS WHO ARE ACCEPTED: Please try to document the process of getting visas/tickets. It will really help me if I have information from different countries (at the moment I only have the UK). Even if you just compare it to what br. Adam wrote on the “Once you have been accepted” page and post a comment with the differences for your country.
Baarak Allahu feekum,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Dear Brother:
May Allah reward you.
My name is Syed Bilal Shafi and I applied as a Canadian. Currently my name is not on the list under Canada.
1) I wanted to know whether or not the list published above is final or there are some more names that you are adding to the list after you find out from other brothers that some others have also been accepted.
2) Can you also please double check whether or not there are only 3 students who got accepted from Canada or are there any more. Isnt 3 quite low from a country like Canada.
3) As for now since my name (Syed Bilal Shafi) is not on the list under Canada, is it possible to assume that my application can be considered for next year? Or do I have to come again, give the interview again and open up a new file? Can you please confirm this information from the admission department whether or not they will consider me for next year or not. If possible ofcourse.
4) Also as requested earlier, were you able to get the names listed under United Arab Emirates. Maybe because I live in the United Arab Emirates and completed most of my schooling there, my name may have been published under UAE. Can you please also post the list for the accepted students from the United Arab Emirates. May be they posted my name under United Arab Emirates.
JazakAllah for all your effort. May Allah reward you.
May Allah reward you too…give me a couple of days bro if you can…I’ve just been totally snowed under with work and there are a lot of brothers who need help. Inshaa Allah as soon as the uni opens on Saturday I’ll get the answer to your questions.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
no news yet on the Makkah Umm Al Qura list?
plz post the maldivian students list.
inshaa Allah – I’m trying to collect the lists that I still need. At this point bro, it would be really good if you could just give me names to check instead of the whole list.
Salaamu alaykoum..
My name is not on the list so i’m not accepted. does that mean i have to go to madinah for a second intervieuw? or do they keep the documents for next year? and is there a chance that they will accept us nexr year or following years?
Wa alaykumussalaam,
May Allah make your path to seeking knowledge easy!
It’s a bit of a difficult question. If you came late for your interview, then your papers might have not been considered for this year, and you don’t have to do anything, inshaa Allah you will be considered for next year. If you didn’t come late then it’s most likely that you will need to submit a new application. Inshaa Allah, let me go back to Madinah at the beginning of October and I’ll find out whether you need to apply again or not inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
I went to the university in mei last year–so i was deffinitly on time.
In that case, I think you will need to submit a new application inshaa Allah.
May Allah make it easy for you…don’t give up. Many students got accepted after two or three attempts
aAslm alkm,
I I have briefly brushed through thelist but i cant see any names from AFRICAN COUNTRIES.is the list complete.I would like to see in particular the kenyan list.
Wa alaykumussalaam
No bro, the list doesn’t include African countries. I tried to get the Kenyan list but the brother told me there were 35 names, so if you can give me the name you are looking for, inshaa Allah I can check for you.
Wassalamu alaykum,
Muhammad
As salaamu alaikum,
For the American students who got accepted, when you translated the names into English, you skipped over number 7, (Umar Hadrooj?) so the list in Arabic is 15 brothers, while the list in English is only 14… But jazakallahu khayran for your time to offer this service, it’s much appreciated!
Will applicants who have been accepted be notified by mail or email, and when?? When does an accepted student have to be in Madeenah to start the school year? Shukrun for all your help akhee.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Inshaa Allah I’ll check it again and make any necessary changes.
A letter should have already been sent by post inshaa Allah. It should arrive within 2 weeks to most students. If any students don’t receive their letter, they can let me know and I’ll try to chase it up, because they do sometimes get lost.
Students shouldn’t worry too much about when they need to be in Madinah. The letter will give a date but the main thing is to try to get everything together as quickly as possible. University officially starts on the first Saturday in October but I don’t think that many students will get there by then, and it’s normal for students to arrive a few weeks late the first time.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
bismilahi rahman hirahiem.
someone can give me to adress of the king abdullah of saudi arabie* I and two other friends do not stand in the list at the Netherlands.
we have there much effort for done and none of our are accepted there. I want will write a letter to king abdullah I have a year stand wait for this list. I wants very gladly will study.
it me has done much pain that our names do not sit there. I want make an objection against the university of madina.
thank you, however.
ws wr wb
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
May Allah make you strong br. Rachid and make your search for knowledge easy
I know that it’s really sad when you don’t get accepted. You have to remember that this is by the decree of Allah, and He does whatever He wills. Perhaps there is a great deal of good in this for you, in a way that you can’t even imagine.
You have to remember that Madinah are not under any obligation to accept you or any other student. It is their decision not yours. They are human and they make mistakes, but maybe they felt that the other students who they accepted were better, or maybe there were too many people from one region. Inshaa Allah, if you apply next year you will get in.
This is a test of your imaan, and you need to step up to the challenge. The prophets suffered many setbacks…don’t let a small setback stop you from seeking knowledge.
May Allah bless you and make your feet firm,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Assalamu alaykum. Are they only taking 10 people from uk or will there be more to be announced ? JazakaAllahu Khairan
Wa alaykumussalaam
Inshaa Allah only 10 bro…it was 10 last year and there’s no reason to believe that the list is incomplete.
May Allah make it easy for all of you.
May Allah reward our brother abuabdirrahmanhumble for this effort and reward him tremendously and increase him and his family in good
May Allah reward you too bro…subhanAllah I didn’t do anything!
SubhanAllah, Allah is indeed good, but I dont see much oppurtunities for sisters
Alhamdulillah ‘alaa kulli haal
In shaa Allah, I’m planning to do some detailed research on this topic later on this week, and in shaa Allah, the results will be posted here. I think the opportunities are there, and I know that there are some additional complications for sisters, such as the need of a mahram, but there are definitely opportunities in Umm ul Quraa in Makkah and Jaami’atul Imaam in Riyaadh, since a sister from the UK was accepted there last year or the year before.
We ask Allah to make it easy for all.
As-Salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Ameen, may Allah make it easy for all of the sisters.
Brother Abuabdirrahman, you mentioned above that you will do more research, I’m assuming that it is for the Princess Nora university. Is there an application already available? BarakAllahu feek?
Salaam,
does any one know where we can find the list for Umm al-Qura?

Wabilaahi Towfiq
Dear brother:
My name is Syed Bilal Shafi. I applied as a Canadian but my name is not on the list od accepted Canadian students. Maybe because I live in the United Arab Emirates and completed most of my schooling there. Can you please also post the list for the accepted students from the United Arab Emirates. May be they posted my name under United Arab Emirates. Also if I am not accepted this year, do I have to visted Saudi to open up a new file and interviewed at the respective Islamic universites there? Or is there a chance that I will get accepted next year without that? Please respond. May Allah reward you.
Inshaa Allah I’ll check for you in the next couple of days.
has anyone hear from umm al qurra
There are only three names posted under Canada, is it safe to assume that this is the complete list considering that ten students were accepted last year?
I’ll put it on my list of things to check inshaa Allah.
Assalaamu alaykum. Brother has there only been 10 accepted from UK only or are there more to come ? Please let us know.
Wassalam
Wa alaykumussalaam br Mohammed,

As salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Could you tell me how to look it up on the jamiahs homepage. The website is in Arabic and the English version is not very user friendly.
May Allah Almighty bless you,
Jazakallah Khairan

Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu.
As far as I can tell, the names for Madinah university are not published online. Riyadh university is published online, and the link is on the “Accepted Students for 2009″ page.
May Allah bless and reward you too,
Wasslaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

Assalamu alaikum, would it possible for you to publish the names of the Sri lankan students that have been accepted? It would be greatly appreciated if you can, jazakallah khairan.
As-Salaamu-’Alaikum Warahmatullah,
This is Badruddin Parkar from Australia again. As per my previous email, my two sons, Ahmed Parkar and Abdullah Parkar did interviews last June for admission to Madinah University. In the list of names of accepted students for 2009 which you have released for Australia, the fifth name on the list says: Abdullah Ahmed. Is this another name or two names, Abdullah and Ahmed separately. If these are separate names can you please confirm the full name also please. Jazak-Allahu khairan.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Wa iyyaak.
As far as I can see, it is one name not two, i.e. Abdullah Ahmad, not Abdullah and Ahmad. Inshaa Allah I’ll get one of the brothers to confirm that for me tomorrow.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Asalaamu Alaykum.
Congrats to all accepted Allahumma Baarik wa la yaduruh.
Can anyone direct us on how to find the makkah accepted list? much appreciated.

dear brothers i feel i must clarify what i have done as it seems there is some confusion.
the list of names i have posted up here is NOT the full list. the names that i have put up here are the names of the brothers who emailed me personally as for the rest of each individual countries lists im not sure exactly how many there are etc.
i have asked brother uthman if he can email me the full list of every country however he hasnt replied yet.
insha’allah i hope i havent confused to many people and whatever good i have done is from allah and what ever evil i have done is from myslef and shaitan.
may allah grant us all tawfeeq

Assalaamu alaykum all. I’m trying to get hold of my Saudi contact today, inshaa Allah I’ll send him to the university tomorrow, where the entire list should be on display inshaa Allah.
I’m going to try to get a complete copy of the list, but if I can’t then I’ll try to speak to him on the phone to get me as much of the list as possible.
Normally the UK is around 10 students, so I would presume that the list isn’t complete.
Give me a day or two to get everything together inshaa Allah,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Wa ‘Alaykum As Salaam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Ya Aba Maryam, i dont think this is the full list. Usually the list is VERY long and they never accepted 1 student of UK. The least i can remember was three and that was about 4 years back.
Br Abu Maryam and Abu Abdir Rahmaan, Is it possible to get the full list please.
Br Abu Maryam did you receive my post? I posted it here with my name and details so can you find out.

esselamualejkoemwerahmetullaah,
the list of madinah uni is available on http://www.iu.edu.sa
but dont know exactly how you get it to.
inshAllaah you will find it.
wassalamaleikum
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Bro, I would be very surprised if it is available. More than one of us has excellent contacts in the university. They all say the list is not out yet. I looked on the site and the list isn’t in the section on “Admissions” – it’s not in the section “Accepting Students” and it’s not in the “News” section. There is a list of accepted Saudi students for 1429-1430, I can’t find anything else.
The list hasn’t been published internally in the university either – which normally happens first.
Bro, can you check your information and make sure it’s just not a rumor or that there might be some mix up with Riyadh university, who does have their list on their website.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Asalamu Alikum
did you get my email
Asalamu Alikum
How about The University of Umm Al-Quraa is it out or not yet
Baraka’Allahu feeka
Wa feeka baarak.
I don’t have any direct contacts at Umm-ul-Quraa university, but from what I understand it isn’t out yet. Only Al-Imam univeristy in Riyadh has released their list, as far as I know – even though there was a bit of debate about whether even their list was complete.
The other brothers can correct me if I’m wrong…
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Jazaka’Allah khair brother can you please email me i want to ask you a question
Aslm alkm,
Iam still anxiously waiting to hear from you when the list is out.
And is it traditionaly that it comes out in August or this time there is a delay?
But just a brotherly request can you link me up with any Kenyan muslim brother currently at the university? My number is +249 925 398055
JAZAKA ALLAHU KHEIR.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Normally the list comes out between June and August. This year the list is very very late. Inshaa Allah, we’re hoping for the list to be released within the next two weeks.
As regards the Kenyan bro, inshaa Allah I can do so when the term starts again at the beginning of October, because all of the Kenyan brothers I know have gone back home.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
assalamu ‘alaikum,
Dear brothers and sisters,
I’d like to know if I am accepted or not. Please could you find it out and let me know. Name: Rashid Ahmed Jashim (Saimon). my e-mail . I don’t know arabic language well, but I think there should be results at http://iu.edu.sa.
Thank you in advance.
Jazakum-Llahu khairan!
Assalaamu alaykum brother Abu Khattab,
As you can see from the other posts, the list is not out yet. Inshaa Allah I’ll get you the list as soon as it is released. Please let me know if you find out that the list has been released from another source, since it’s always possible that I miss it.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on the post on the front page of this site as well.
May Allah make it easy for you.
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalam-Alakum Brother Muhammed,
I apologize I just had another quick question. I applied after I went for Hajj, will I be considered for this year. I have read conflicting information about this. Some websites stated that the cut off date is the month of D.Q’ada. I applied by interview and not by sending in my documents. Jazak AllahKhair brother may Allah reward you for your help.
Asalam-Alakum
Mohammad Abbas
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
Bro I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that there is no cut off point for applications. Please search through the site pages and the answers to other people who asked the same question for a clarification of why this is the case.
Any other information that you have been given is out of date.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Asalam-alakum Brother Muhammad,
Jazak Allah Khair once again for your prompt reply. I pray that Allah rewards you for your hard work.
Asalam-Alakum
Mohammad Abbas
Assalamu alaykum, yes akhi, I applied the week just before Hajj in person and I can confirm one thing for this year(since the admin is so random):
-Applications were being accepted after the Hajj for the upcoming school year.
I’m pretty sure that the cut off point was the month of Muharram for that upcoming school year.
Insa Allah ya rabb..
Why is the list is taking too long. and When will be the intake.
The university staff do not know when the list is coming out – despite what they may say on the phone or in emails.
It has gone to Riyadh for approval at Government level. This could take another week, or it may take another month. University starts at the beginning of October but allowances will be made if the list comes out late – inshaa Allah.
i send my application last year please notify me if my name is shortlisted
Hafiz Syed Hassan Farooq(Pakistan)
Assalam aleikum,
I send my application last year;please notify me if my name has been shortlisted.
Abubakar Ambutsi Rajab(Kenyan)
Assalaamu alaykum,
The list isn’t out yet but i’ll do what I can when it is released inshaa Allah.
Asalaam alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,
dear brothers in islam, alhamdu’lillah I spoke with brother Uthman from the university staff this morning. He said that there is a delay on the list coming out, allahu’alim, however what he has done is he has given me his email address so all of the brothers who have asked me to check on their status, I will email the names to brother Uthman and as soon as the oistbis out he will check the names and email me to say which brothers were accepted.
As soon as I receive this email I will forward it to the brothers who have emailed so far.
May Allah grant us tawfeeq and make us of the sabirun,
Abu Maryam Abdullah Sales
wa’alaykum asalaam wa rahmatullah
Salaam to all!
Akhi Abu Maryam, i think i spoke to him…he’s got very good English right (not usual arab accent, Masha-Allah). He told me it may take 2 weeks and he wouldn’t know anyones name until he gets it. Khair Can you please check my name.
Name: Mohammad Gulam Muhith (UK – British)
DOB: 13/08/1985
POB: England
Origin: Bangladeshi
(Usually the list that i saw whilst at Madinah had the name of the student along with nationality/origin.)
Shukran
Once again to all the brothers especially to abuabdirrahmanhumble thank you very much.
Bismillah-ar-rahman-ir-raheem
Asalaam alaykum wa rahmatullah w abarakatuh,
Alhamdu’lillah i have just been on the phone to the university then and spoke with a very helpful brother and he said he actually remembers handling my own personal application when it arrived to the office. basically the brother said that the list should be out next week sometime but he said that i can call him on saturday morning and he will call the office and find out if my name is on the list. if any other brothers would like me to ask on their behalf then please email me your name to my personal mail address which is umaralkhattab@rocketmail.com and insha’allah i will try to find out for you.
may allah grant us all success
barak’allah feekum
wa’salaam wa rahmatullah
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Just let us know if you find that the list has come out. In general though, I don’t think that the people in the office know when the list is coming out, but they are hoping that it will arrive soon inshaa Allah.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Asalam-alakum Brother,
I just had a quick question. I was able to apply in person last year Allhumdulliah, and also received an interview, are they always so short? The Shiekh asked me pretty much what was on my application, and a couple of other questions. Also I am sure that I accidentally put my old passport number on my application because I was in the process of getting a new passport when I had my application filled out by my local imam. Will this pose a problem?
Jazak Allah-Khair.
Your Brother Mohammad Abbas
Canada
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullah,
The interviews can be short, especially if the interviewer is short on time. Don’t worry about it, it definitely doesn’t affect the end result. To be honest, I think the interviews are way too inconsistent. However, based on the brothers’ experience, it seems that it doesn’t matter too much.
In terms of the passport, you should contact the university (inshaa Allah after the list comes out) and let them know that your passport number has changed, because they will need the new number.
Allah knows best.
May Allah make it easy for you,
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
Asalam-alakum again brother,
Jazak Allah Khair brother for replying to my answer, I just had one more is it possible to have the University send back the documents which they have of mine, or can someone get them and send them back to me.
Jazak Allah Khair
Asalam-Alakum
Mohammad Abbas
Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
It’s not normally possible to get documents back, that’s why they emphasise sending photocopies, not originals.
I don’t honestly know of anyone who has tried in the past.
Wassalaamu alaykum warahmatullah,
Muhammad
My name is Syed Bilal Shafi from Canada. Please let me know if my name appears
My name is Syed Bilal Shafi. from Canada. But I reside in the UAE now. Please let me know if my name Syed Bilal Shafi is on the accepted students list. jazakAllah
Inshaa Allah, keep an eye out for the list on the site when it is published. May Allah make it easy for you.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
ive apllied for admission to this university for two consecutive years and have had no response… may i please be informed of my application status (im a south african student and my name and email address are written above)
Bro, please keep a look out for the list when it comes out. If a student isn’t mentioned on the list, then it means that their application has not been successful and they need to apply again.
Don’t be disheartened though…many brothers take two or three times to apply and are still accepted.
Make sure you read through the site for tips.
May Allah make it easy for you.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
Asalaam alaykum wa ramatullah,
ya ahki, please will you be able to check with the university when the UK list of students will be out? It’s got to be soon inshallah
barak’allah feekum
Wa alaykumussalaam warahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
I am already trying to do so…please see the most recent post on the main page of the site where I provide regular updates.
Jazaakallahu khair for you response.
What other websites do you know of that may have this years list?
Also with reference to Imam Ibn Saud University; where could I find a list for that?
Wa alaikum salam
Assalaamu alaikum
Brother could you please inform me of how the university contacts its accepted students in order for them to know?
Jazaakallahu Khair.
Wa alaykumussalaam,
Wa iyyaak.
Inshaa Allah they will send a letter to every student, however, sometimes the letter arrives late (and sometimes not at all – although this is quite rare). I advise you to keep checking this site as well as others to confirm whether you have been accepted.
Wassalaamu alaykum,
Muhammad
